The book started out extremely promising. I was absolutely invested in it especially during the telling of Cooper being trapped in an avalanche. This section was so extremely well written, I felt claustrophobic just reading it.
Unfortunately about one third through the book it started to slow down massively. The book emphasized character development to an e tend that it felt overwhelming and exhausting.
The multi POV was generally a great idea for the book, though here each dedicated chapter did not necessarily stick to that one single POV, but instead jumped from on to another, sometimes having 3-4 different POV's in one chapter. It became confusing, especially once I got to chapter 34, which appeared to have been jumbled up, making it quite difficult to follow along.
In general I think that the story and the concept were amazing. I am curious to know bsee how the story continues, though it would not be one of my prioritized trilogies that finish.

I want to thank the authors and publisher first for sending me a free copy of the book.
This book’s genre is a little outside of my comfort zone, but the synopsis really pulled me in and I was curious to see how this book would go.
This is more of a scifi story than I expected, which is nice since I thought it was more of a medical-based thriller only, but there’s also a very nice scifi twist to it.
The story starts out very slow and does not actually get really interesting until literally half way through the book. Then it just escalates and becomes much more thrilling and interesting. However, I would at it made sense for the story to be a bit slower at first since it was allowing us to meet the characters, get to know them, their positions in the story(such as their jobs), and also building the premise and what the book is about.
The story follows many different scientists trying to make a cure for an epidemic of insomnia sweeping the nation. No one has any idea why it’s happening, and the one drug that should be a cure is not working. And the people who believe something off planet is responsible are basically being written off as fanatics and crazy. But are they?
There’s a lot of twists and turns and backstabbing happening that it almost was hard to keep track of it, but made the story interesting, especially since I’m sure the way people acted in this book is exactly how they would have acted in our world or timeline when trying to find a cure, but also take the credit.
I will say there were a tad bit too many POVs for my taste. And although the chapter will start out with a certain POV, usually some time during that chapter the POV would change to someone else in the same scene and it would get confusing. I had to really pay attention and to catch it many times to make sure I was reading about the character I thought I was

Thank you to the authors for my copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I really found it interesting to read about a pandemic alongside literally living in one. I must admit the Medical SciFi Thriller genre is a wee bit out of my comfort zone but I also need to clarify that for me 3 stars = GOOD. So glean from that what you will.
.
To me the premise of an insomnia pandemic is certainly fascinating. Especially when coupled with the fact that the cure developed should be working... but it's not. Dun Dun Duuuuuun!.
.
Now, there are a lot of characters introduced in the beginning of this book, separated by their own chapters with different locations and times, which can be a bit overwhelming but once they repeat a few times you do get to really know them. I was intrigued by how they would impact each other as the novel progressed. That's always my favourite part about character driven books. Though I'm unsure if that's what you'd fully call this as the story really took the spotlight at many times. So let's consider it a blend shall we?.
.
If you're into novels by authors such as Dan Brown, Michael Crichton or Robert J Sawyer then this is likely your cup of tea! Drink, enjoy and get ready for two more cups as this book is set to be part of a trilogy!.

I loved the idea behind this book. It begins with new information being released about the future of mankind and our evident downfall that is approaching. What would really happen if we found out that everything we thought we knew about life itself was a lie? The introduction to all the different characters was great and I felt like the authors created a really good cast for this story. The concept makes for a thrilling tale, particularly that last chapter. I had a "Wow" moment at the end that makes me excited for the next book. The only issue I had was a little confusion following which character's POV I was reading because it would sometimes change from paragraph to paragraph. However, I was able to get used to this unique style of writing and wound up really enjoying this book.
Got the review copy from authors.
Dnfing after 100 pages.
It started with so much potential, I was looking forward to a banging story and I was really enjoying the concept. But so many characters POV made it hard to track everyone plus so much detail was a turnoff.
And again negative characters are Muslim, so no can't continue it.

Review: For the most part I really liked this book. The concept of the book was interesting and for the most part the character development was well done. I also liked the pacing of this book.
However, the execution of this book was a bit short. The plot didn’t keep me intrigued after a bit and the book didn’t do well at showing and not telling. The book also didn’t have that much world building.
Verdict: It was good, just needs more editing.
