Me reading this: do I need to read more shifter books?

This had a lot of elements that can very often not work for me, but somehow, here they magically did. Park is just the right kind of alpha, Cooper is an awkward mess, and I love them both. Between the shirt sniffing, the submission, and the "I'll take care of you", I was absolutely hooked. The mystery was engaging too, and all in all it made for an excellent read.

Not for me. Strong "not all (fictional FBI) cops" vibes. Not great narrator, very robotic.

This was a fun mystery/paranormal romance mashup. The mystery had me fooled for a good half of the book, and I really enjoyed the romance between Cooper and Park. I love snarky and prickly characters. I would've liked some of Park's thoughts or POV maybe because he was very mysterious.

The whole alpha thing bothers me, mainly because I know real wolves don't actually work like that, but I suppose it's just something you have to put up with when reading about werewolves and it's a pretty minor aspect in this book.

This is such a strong, well written book! I loved it sooo much. The banter between two mc was smart, realistic and touching, at times hilarious. It was much grittier than I'd thought, the book really makes you think about how faulty justice systems are, about prejudice and also, the nature of hate crime. So, if you're sensitive to this topic I would advise you to think twice before picking this book up.
The mystery portion was…meh in the best way possible. Even though Cooper played a decent detective, he came off more like an amature sleugh rather than highly trained professional. I appreciate how carefully the author arranges the clues to the case, but maybe I like being confused more, than being right.  Other than that, I have no complaints.

This was so good. Interesting and original, with a riveting and action-packed mystery storyline that kept me guessing and two unforgettable main characters that are so lonely and unsure and that desperately need each other. Completely unputdownable.
I loved how relatable Cooper was: he changes so much throughout the book. He makes quite a lot of assumptions and mistakes in the beginning but my god, was it nice to see a very flawed, insecure main character, who's first instinct is to build a wall around his thoughts and feelings, slowly but surely grow and start dismantling his walls and prejudices. I loved him so much, even when I wanted to kick him. I also found his gut issues so relatable, since I, too, have a ton of gut issues, and it's something you don't always get to see in a MC.
I absolutely adored Park and I'm very looking forward to seeing a bit more of him and his mysterious past, and also exploring his and Cooper's explosive relationship and chemistry. Dislike (and instant attraction) to sweet caring and fiery and HOT love making? YES PLEASE.
The mystery bit was also very well done, if a bit confusing at times (but maybe that's just me being not at the top of my game), and I'm very very curious to see a bit more of the wolf community and pack laws and what actually makes wolves different from humans. I will be jumping into book two very soon.
