The narration on the audiobook is perfect, I'll give it that - WITH THE EXCEPTION of the way Duddits is voiced because I found that incredibly cringe BUT I expect that's how it's written in the book? So I guess props for following through on that. I also enjoyed the revisitation of Derry, and the core group of boys theme that runs through IT kind of coming back through here. The beginning of the book, the intro to all the characters, that was also alright.
But I DEFINITELY got lost at the repeated use of the r-word, and it literally made me flinch every time. It was a poor choice - this book isn't that old and that word has been out of "fashion" for a LONG time, come on Stephen. I can't say I was thrilled at the inclusion of a more diverse character (one with Down's syndrome) in the way it was done, although I did appreciate that he was integrated into the friend group in a natural way, not in some kind of shitty mascot way. I dunno...this whole book was like a really painful revisitation of Tommyknockers, and I never thought I'd say "Tommyknockers did it better" but here we are. Shit weasels and all. I haven't read Rage, but this is easily my least favorite King. I'd have to argue that the concept of the dreamcatcher was tortured at best, and confusing and misused at worst, unless I've wildly misunderstood what they symbolize.

Despite my efforts and the quality of King's writing, horror genre does not seem to be my thing.
