Not as bad as everybody makes it out to be. E.T's aren't really my thing, but it was alright.

I wanted to like this book more than I could. There were some good elements and ideas but the book also has lots of flaws and tries to do too many things in it and it just doesn't come together well. I'm not sure this book deserves it reputation but at the same time I see why it has one.
The shitweasels or whatever he called them (it's been awhile since I read this) are forever in my mind as what comes from all german shepherd butts. We had a shepherd when I read this who could clear a room for hours with a single fart. This book will forever bring me fond memories of that beloved pup.
the whole vivid dream, mr. gray but also an invasion, like so much was going on then you hit a 150 page chase for bacon and the beginning was good and the ending was good but I almost fell asleep in the middle. 😩
I usually don’t care for books and movies about alien invasions. The trope is overdone and boring to me. However, this book is different. Yes it’s about alien invasions, but it’s a slow burn which focuses mostly on the main characters, giving the reader a strong foundation of their relationship which is essential to the alien invasion plot. It’s very rare for a book to have characters I both love AND despise equal amounts, but this book did an excellent job. It did take forever to read since it’s quite heavy, and there is some moments where it feels dragged on, but for the most part it’s a page turner & perfect for a long train ride or a slow day at work. Stephen King’s world building and character development shine through yet again. It may not be his best work but it’s still enjoyable.
