let women speakkkkkk

This was absolutely adorable, fun, sexy and funny.

This was a great start to what I am sure will be a great series.

*This goes on my "goo is good shelf" because goo is good and I love that Eloise was turned to goo.*

I loved Jake. I imagined him as Jake Ryan.
I adored Eloise. Her wardrobe and its malfunctioned provided many smiles.
I feasted on the chemistry between these two. It was delicious.
The age gap was handled really well.
I thought the lemonade stand story would make me cringe but it was cute.

Yes this is closed door or sweet or whatever you call it but damn, those kissed were HOT!

The letters made me cry. The way good love letters do.
Liam was comic relief.
I hope Naomi finds her HEA.
I want Ben to find his HEA off his dingy and not with a model.

That Bonus Epilogue with Merritt and her crush?
Heck yeah.
Bring it on!

I was excited for this read cuz it got a lot of hype. Fell flat for me. Some parts were funny but I felt like Lo was immature in trying to be with Jake, kept trying to make him jealous and was pretty clingy. He was reluctant before the 11 year age gap and the fact that she’d be leaving after the house renovation. I felt like she was really pushy. I felt like the book jumped ahead after their first kiss, jake said he was all in on them. But on the next page she talked about their mornings sharing coffee and breakfast and all their kisses, made me feel like the story jumped forward and I missed something. His letters were cute and trying to get her back though.

This is just what I needed after reading so many emotional heart wrenching books was a fun, romcom and Lo & Jake deleivered on that. I found Lo really funny and loving, and Jake was the typical grumpy man who only wanted to smile for Lo. I thought the premise of this book was fun and I also loved getting to know all the side characters. The third act breakup was typical romcom fashion however it still made my heart sad and the letters were so sweet even if they made my hesrt hurt a little lol. Oakley Island was a great setting and I am excited to read Merritt and Hunter's books next !!

Eloise and the Grump Next Door is the first book in the Oakley Island series written by Emma St. Clair and Jenny Proctor. I have loved and enjoyed Clair's writing, but was new to Proctor's. They are a good writing duo. I thought that the story was sweet, funny, quirky and just relatable enough. This was my first read of June, and what a perfect time to read this book.

St. Clair teams up with Proctor for this fun beachy romance. Fun cast of characters, plotting, and location. I like St. Clair a bit better on her own but you can tell the two of them had a blast on this collaboration.

I received a review copy of this book from the author--all opinions are my own.
