DNF @40% - it takes ALOT for me to dnf a book. The first one was so good, and this one has all the makings of being a fun read, but the part I’m abandoning it at, there’s so much angst surrounding people being stubborn and miscommunication. I understand SOME miscommunication in RH, but when 3.5 of the 5 interests are being thick, then I’m done.

NGL, I was frustrated that it took so long to get to the spice. The way that folks have sold the series, I thought it was supposed to be smuttier with less plot. But I've been pleasantly surprised.

Again, Quinn has done a wonderful job making each character feel unique. I recently finished a different book that had multiple pov and there was no real distinction in character voice, tone, or word choice, making Quinn stand out even more as a talented author.

The world she has built is getting bigger and more complex, and it has been interesting to see how our characters are responding to these changes. Each person has their own issues to overcome and, so far, it all feels authentic and appropriate for our Bristlebrook Family.

I will say, that Eden continues to annoy the hell out of me; she's so freaking stupid and forgetful about very important things. And it's hard to know if I'm just too clever or the writing is weak, but I saw all the twists coming (
If you keep picking on a young man trying to demonstrate his masculinity, of course he will betray you and side with the more supportive, masculine crew
).

I'm sad that we have to wait until the end of this year/beginning of next year to get the third (and final?) book in the series, but I'm even more disappointed that Joe Arden has been dropped. Look, I know there's that whole controversy, but it was over a year ago and nothing has come out since a few anonymous rumors were posted (and promptly deleted). And personally, while the accusations make him sound like kind of a d!ck, they aren't criminal (and he and his wife might have an open marriage anyway). But I digress...

REALLY hating the constant attempts to coerce Jaykob into tolerating the RH. If he wants monogamy then quit playing with his feelings, like what the fuck?

Eden is also kind of becoming the worst villain of all??? 4 stars for the smut and the absolute drama of it lol
