Marcela goes through a lot of emotions in the book and it was really nice to see her grow her confidence and find what truly was best for her in the end. (Even if this process had me yelling at her/my phone while listening🤓 Anytime she brought up Ben I was going NOO GIRL PLS U CAN DO BETTER. And she did☺️🫶🏻)

Listen this book was fine. I think there's just something going on with most contemporary romances that doesn't click for me. I felt like the premise was solid and the plot moved along well, but there was something about the characterization that felt off. I sort of hated how much emphasis Marcela places on her body as a source of insecurity for her, and felt like the author made too much of a point of stating fat stereotypes in a (I guess) jokey way. But I was in a reading slump and I finished the book quickly, so I will give it credit for that.

I am glad this was the book that brought me to my reading goal for the year. This story pulled me in instantly but there were some points of this book where I was losing my spark for it. Overall, I loved how the plot was pulled together even when I didn’t have a clue where it’d go!
