Very repetitive. Marcela just cycled through the same thinking of “oh I love Ben, wait I think maybe Ben’s a dick and I just never saw it before, wow Theo is so great, oh no but Theo loves Alice, boohoo I love Ben, wait Ben is sort of a dick and I just never saw it, wow Theo is so great” over and over. It felt like Marcela and Theo were in love for so long, with no real character development happening for either of them until suddenly at the end of the book enough character development had apparently happened for them to get together. You knew they’d get there eventually, but there wasn’t a lot of real depth that got them there. There was a lot of filler, and I don’t think this story was plotted out well enough for a full length novel. A novella would have been much less repetitive.

What a gushy, genuine book this was. Oh to read books where you see yourself or parts of yourself in the characters and their experiences. The good, the bad, the ugly. This was an incredibly relatable story between the body image topic, fear of missing out: on relationships, experiences, life?! AND unrequited feelings/ love to boot!

Marce will go down as one of my favorite fmc’s now. Her resilience and ability to find ways to work through her issues was mesmerizing. And the support from our ex-nfl mmc was overwhelming. Why settle for second choice when you’ve always been someone’s first?

I cannot wait to read the second book in this series. It’s a 10/10 would recommend.

An engaging read!! I would def keep the lookout for more from this author though I think this one had a few debutisms. This trope set and archetype set didn't totally work for me personally but I really really appreciated some of the conversations had here and def the representation!!
