I really enjoyed this story but I wish it was dual perspective or gave me more time with them dating (not just in the bedroom). The sexual chemistry was definitely there! Overall a fun book!

This was undoubtably messy and easily resolvable with a few adult conversations and therapy. We spend a bit too much time in Marcela's head and she makes some incredibly problematic decisions in which I am still very concerned for her future endeavors. And, I'm a librarian, but the slightly over-the-top inclusion of YA books, sections, and titles might have been better suited in a suggested readings list at the end.

And the things that take you out of a story? Having a first date as a fancy dinner in the YA section of a public library. I...don't think so.

This was messy af but I suppose that’s the nature of the plot. I loved Theo, he was the saving grace of this book but it almost felt there wasn’t enough of him. I wanted to love Marcela but her internal dialogue was draining. I get having insecurities and being unsure, she was in love with Ben for years it’s gonna take a sec to get over but the constant changing her mind and just burying her head in the sand was infuriating. I think she felt very like a YA character, when she’s meant to be in her late twenties, she feels a bit immature to me, but she does have abandonment issues and I get having an absentee father fucks you up. I liked the premise of the book though, it’s not something I’ve seen a lot in the books I’ve read and it was enjoyable, but it just didn’t work the way I wanted it to. I was invested in the characters though, especially when it was clear Theo wanted more from their relationship.

This was such a frustrating read, nothing author or writing related but the actual story/plot and the main FMC! She wasn’t likable, given her dealing with abandonment issues I was annoyed with the way she wasn’t honest with Theo. Theo was nothing but honest and open such her. She didn’t deserve him….PERIOD.
lighthearted medium-paced

I inhaled this book. I think it is because, as the book itself notes, it is like a teen drama on the CW. The MCs feel a little immature but also relatable. The author crammed a lot of melodrama into the book, but I enjoyed it. Also- the grand gestures were amazing and the FMC is a librarian.
