Not very many authors are capable of blending sensitive romance with courageous adventure. Julia Quinn transitions between the two with a smoothness and clarity that appeals to readers like me who are fans of both. The Girl With the Make - Believe Husband exudes classic romance while squeezing in a few modern day subjects. With a strong sense of female empowerment Cecilia sets out in search of answers and ends up facing more than she could have imagined. Edward holds the key to all she seeks, if he can forgive her in the end.

When Cecilia Harcourt is notified that her brother is missing in the Colonies, she has no choice but to go and find him. When she arrives Cecilia finds that getting information from the battlefield worn soldiers is not exactly her forte. When she finds that her brother's best friend is in the hospital unconscious she is desperate to help him, even if she has to lie in the process. When Edward Rokesby wakes up he is missing a couple months of his life. To top it all off, he cannot remember getting married, especially to his best friend's sister who he has secretly been pining over. As the two embark on a quest to find the missing Thomas Harcourt they find themselves getting closer.
I have to admit I am a sucker for amnesia stories! I really enjoyed this one, it was a little slow in the plot but the witty characters made up for it and I loved the relationship development between Cecilia and Edward.
