Ohhh I don't think I've read a historical of this kind in awhile if not ever. It was refreshing.
An enjoyable entry in the series with a dose of wartime intrigue. I don't have the most patience for the premise of lying as the basis of a relationship, no matter how well intentioned, and got a bit impatient waiting for all to be revealed, but all in all had a fun time reading this one.
I need at least one romance a month and this just went and made me need more sappy romance. Julia Quinn never let's me down.
Still loved it. She crossed the sea to find her brother. And came home with a love that grew through letters.
As is often the case with historical romances, you have to take a pretty big suspension of disbelief for this one, but I LOVE a fake relationship and this one has lots of good twists and turns. I really loved Cecilia and Edward and the setting of revolutionary era NYC (albeit from the “other side” of the one my relatives fought on!) is super fun as well. 3.5 stars.
My favorite of the Rokesbys series. Could have been my state of mind when I read it but I was tearing up at the end and I loved the HEA.
Thank you to Avon for the ARC.
