Oh Tobias and your neverending verbal diarrhea.

I wished we got to see more of Jove's relationship with his sons. I feel like it wasn't all resolved.

4.5⭐️ I love this book. It is so freaking weird—a crazy mix between violent mafia romance and some warped paranormal weirdness. It’s funny, thrilling, and mysterious. I smiled at the banter and laughed at the dark, dry humor. The romance and steam are top-notch too, subtle but impactful.
I love the grumpy/sunshine relationship between Jove, a 50 year old retired mob boss and Tobias, the down-on-his-luck 22 year old. Their age gap was significant but it still somehow made perfect sense.
Jove’s soft side and desire to protect Tobias is so swoon.
Heads up, Jove does refer to Tobias as “kid”. I know that irks some people but I didn’t mind it at all.
Overall, just a very fun book.

This was a weird read. The writing wasn’t the best but the concept and some of the plot twists pulled me in and kept my attention. I’ll probably continue the series at some point because I’m interested in seeing more of Jove’s kids.

As a mafia story, this was a little underwhelming. As a romance story, well, there wasn’t even any romance at all. We didn’t really get the overly possessive controlling lover type. In fact, the two MCs hardly seemed like lovers at all.

In terms of the characters, this follows the standard sarcastic/slightly caustic twink and mafia boss trope down to a T.

This was SO fun. I'll admit some of the plot confused me, but the chemistry was amazing. If you are a fan of ships like endhawks you'll like this one.

I found the first one hundred ish pages to be very slow and didn’t really catch my attention, but the story really started to pick up and getting interesting.
Unfortunately i could already tell who the “rat” was, it was very typical and i still liked it but some of the fun was taking away because of it.
I kinda want more of Joves sons interacting with Tobias i think that’d be really fun.
I know horses are a big part of the story but at some points i was just like damn i’m really sick of fucking horses.

Update- i just realized the second book of this series is about Joves oldest so might have to read and hope there’s heavy Tobias interaction lol.
