The Sandman

This was really fun! I enjoy Neil Gaiman when he reads his own books. In this production it was much more like a BBC radio play than an author's reading for audiobook format. The cast was amazing, I truly can't think of a single character rendition I disliked. Notable here was Kat Dennings made a perfect Death by my measure. I would recommend this audio play to anyone who is a fan of the graphic novels or of Neil Gaiman more generally. 5 stars!

Neil Gaimans Sandman comes to life in this lovely adaptation by Maggs. It’s moody and funny and exactly what you want from a near perfect comic turned into an audio play. The voice cast is flawlesss, the direction is amazing. I loved every minute of it and can’t wait to start Volume 2.

I got this book because it was free since the sequel is coming out. It was annoying from the beginning in MY opinion. There was some comic relief, but I just don't think this was a good fit for me. The whole time it was playing, it felt like I was listening to one of those old school mystic movies, like Clash of The Titans or something. Which in and of themselves are not bad movies, I just wasn't expecting that from this book and the cover. I thought it would be more menacing than goofy. I didn't finish.

Overall I enjoyed the stories, some more than others. While the narration was excellent all around, I'm still not sure I'm into the music and sound effects.

Neil Gaiman is the greatest living storyteller. There so many great writers and authors and novelists, but Gaiman falls into the category of the storyteller. He creates mythologies that could have existed. Maybe they do and he is just retelling the tale. The Sandman is a wonderful example of this. The Sandman comics convinced me that comics were real forms of literature combined with beautiful artwork. I was apprehensive about this becoming an audiobook, but they did an amazing job.
This version brings the comic to life in a way I always hoped would happen since first reading the books. This full-cast production is perfect in every way. The characters are perfectly cast and well played. James McAvoy is Dream, hands down. I was originally concerned with Kat Dennings as Death, but I was completely wrong, she was perfect. I will not list out all of the other cast members and how wonderful they are, you will have to just experience that for yourself.
adventurous funny hopeful mysterious medium-paced

While the original comic is superior, this all-star cast does an amazing job of bringing the classic to life.

Wonderfully written and performed.

This was a great production. Definitely one of the best Audible titles in my library.
