So I found this a bit lacking . . . I'm pretty sure it has EVERYTHING to do with the fact that I watched the Netflix TV show first and I REALLY enjoyed the show. The little nuances that were changed in the show - Lucien's race and gender, Rose and Unity's race, how the escaped nightmares/dreams appear/are described; the TV show did it better. This audio did have a bit more detail, and extra stories not in the show. This audio also makes the DC connection that Netflix was unable to do, I liked that. Overall, this was really good. I just actually liked the show better and will go ahead and listen to Act II and Act III before those seasons are released.

The narration and performances of everyone was 5 stars. The story though was too scattered with too many off the wall ideas for me. It was also very dark and gory at times. If this cast and director were involved in some other project I would try it out for sure. There were some aspects that tied into the DC world but I was just thrown off by how much I didn't want to listen to what was happening to the characters. This is also why I don't like Stephen King's writing as well.

Oh Neil how I love thee. An awesome full cast brings Sandman to life. I love the DC characters thrown in and Kat Dennings as Death is just so perfect. I need to go back and read the graphic novels again.

If you're a fan of Neil Gaiman, Sandman, or even just James (my future husband) McAvoy - or really, any of the actors involved - this is 100% worth it. Until the Universe gives me my Netflix adaptation, I will keep replaying this.

There are scenes that make me cry just like the books did. There are scenes that make me laugh. There are chapters that I replay until I know them by heart. There are lines that I randomly blurt just for fun.
