It was definitely better than the previous Harper L. Woods book I read but I still found that while I speed through it, I wasn’t hooked to the plot or the I don’t even want to call that a romance to be honest. I liked Willow as a character though, she was tough and she was a powerful witch dedicated to old ways. She had guts telling powerful people what she truly thought of them, even when they threatened her.

UPDATE: I’m changing this to 5 stars because I can’t stop thinking about it
this may be an unpopular opinion but I LOVED this book so much. The ending COMPLETELY caught me off guard and I really had no idea what was going to happen next.
The gothic elements in this are so good and I’m so excited for book 2.
The last 25 pages had me saying “wtf” every 2 seconds

Questo libro è esattamente quello che promette: un viaggio costruito su misura per il lettore, con una storia semplice e prevedibile che non si sforza di uscire dai binari già noti. È pieno di cliché, quelli che abbiamo letto e riletto, ma c’è qualcosa nella scrittura che lo rende irresistibile. Lo stile è armonioso, scorrevole, quasi familiare, come se l’autore fosse un amico che racconta una storia senza pretese.
Le parti più calde sono sicuramente il cuore del libro: descritte in dettaglio e con una tensione sessuale alle stelle. I personaggi? Interessanti, certo, ma basici, sia nella loro personalità che nel loro ruolo nella storia. Nonostante questo, mi sono trovata a divorare il libro. La trama si muove velocemente, spremendo gli avvenimenti più per intrattenere che per costruire qualcosa di solido, ma… funziona.
Certo, i difetti non mancano: ripetizioni evidenti, un finale che è un caos totale e aggiunge un miscuglio di informazioni che rendono tutto più superficiale. Però, nonostante questo, mi è piaciuto. Tanto. E onestamente non vedo l’ora di mettere le mani sul secondo capitolo. È un libro pieno di imperfezioni, ma incredibilmente godibile!

what huh hmmmmmmmmmmmm what ok real review: first 30% was so confused and kinda bored. 40-70% of the book had me in a chokehold. loved loved loved the vibes would have recommended the book based off that middle section only. last 20-30% had me going "huh" every page... the book says it ends on a cliffhanger (but TBH im prob not gonna read the second one and i'm totally okay with that!) potentially got me out of a slump... but... i wish with all my heart i liked it enough to read the sequel.. <\3
