I was surprised by this book. It started out with Amy essentially telling us she isn't her TV persona, but then going onto describe several situations that make you question that original assertion. BUT then she comes around and delivers a really brilliant, thoughtful remainder of her book. I was blown away. There was another commentor that puts the book above and below other similar books. I would say it is not better than Mindy Kaling's book, but for me it would be just after that and maybe equal with Lena Dunham's book. I loved Issa Rae and Tina Fey's books. But I connected most to Amy's despite my goody goody lifestyle, which was both a little surprising and really quite rewarding.

It was okay. I got the vibe that Amy was just saying shocking things to be shocking - the "funny" of that wears off quickly after you see it on every page.
I really like Amy Schumer and very much enjoyed this book. Her comedy is brash and unapologetically feminist, and even though I can't personally relate to her sex stories (like at all!), I think her comedy is really, really funny. I also think she is incredibly smart and hard-working and honest, and her essays here showed where some of her strength comes from (ahem, messed up childhood). Strength and vulnerability and grace. I'm even more of a fan after reading this book.

I was hoping for something a little more funny....this was overall fairly serious.
A glimpse into Amy Schumer's personal and professional life. Strong and insightful in ways that are more serious and candid than her show or standup.
This book was everything I love & hate about Amy Schumer. It was a funny book advocating for women's rights & love/care of our bodies. But, in Amy's case, women's rights only mean WHITE womens rights, not only ignorantly omitting issues of intersectionality but at times saying lines that can only be classified as racist and classist. I wanted to like this. I swear I did.
(3.5 stars) I started this having no idea what to expect, and for the first quarter/ half of this book I didn’t really like it? It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good but it slowly started to grow on me and it made me laugh, smile, and just learn. It taught me things, it said things I couldn’t word but had wanted to for a while and it also reinsured things. It left good examples and bad and it was just real. Were there problems ? Hell yes. Did that take away from the book? No really it made it more real. I don’t think physically reading this would’ve been any better it probably would’ve made me dislike it, Amy narrated it herself and it just made the whole thing it was like she was there in front of me. She knew exactly how this or that should be expressed and it just made the experience so much better.
I ended up really enjoying this and definitely want to buy the physical copy just to own and support her. I really recommend the audio book for this, and I hope you can enjoy this as much as I did in the end :)
