It seemed like I was reading fleshed out stories, or slapped together stories. One of the stories had a line about a match ‘between Croatia and some country in Africa’ and it made me mad. It wasn’t like it was authentic to the character, just lazy insensitive writing.
Normally I'm not one for short stories, but these were delightful! Perfect read for a quick pick-me-up.
The main story, Paris for One, was ok but I found the short stories lacking.
Each story was unique and full of life. A very cute read with quite a few interesting thoughts/lessons intertwined throughout.
I don't know if I'm not sad & British enough or sad & middle-aged enough to have enjoyed this collection more, but either way, I guess I'm grateful.
Paris for One was fun enough, a cute, typical romance. Although it was hard to tell when it was set: they were texting, but they also left messages at the hotel desk? The author seemed to be writing nostalgically about young womanhood, setting it in the present, but not updating it from her own experience decades before.
The others were just okay. They were too short to be as profound as they wanted to be, but not enjoyable enough to be any longer.

Yep, Jojo Moyes did it again. I LOOOVED the story "Paris For One" and I would be completely happy if she just decided to write a whole book on the characters from that story. I'm just amazed that I could feel connected to her characters in short stories after just a few pages.
