I think I prefer Jojo Moyes longer stories better- the short ones don’t do any justice. Her first "short" story about a woman who's boyfriend doesn’t show up for a weekend in Paris was her only good story in this book. All the other ones were short; problematic, and rushed. I didn’t think anything of the other ones and it was just okaaay. Just okaay. Nothing spectacular. It was a quick read as well though. Finished the other half in one sitting so there's that!

Paris for One and other stories by Jojo Moyes.
Evie was in need for a new coat. But her family was in a financial difficulty and the coat she wanted cost a fortune. She tried to ignored her wish altogether. She had a husband and healthy children and roof over their head, she felt like a selfish, spoiled child when she counted her blessings. It was difficult if you had to stayed in a room full of women showed off their new designer handbags and shoes all the time. But her husband was so sweet and understanding she felt even more guilty, so she went to purchase a less-attractive, cheaper coat.
As fate would had it, the coat she wanted was on half price sale but when she finally went inside the store ready to try it on, they ran out her size. Disappointed yet believed it wasn’t meant to be, she went to home, to found out that her dream coat was already waiting for her at home, purchase by her husband as a gift from his father for all the foods she never failed to sent him everyday.
This was only one of the sweet stories in Paris for One and Other Stories, one of my favorite. Jojo Moyes wrote ordinary things women would feel all the time, it was nothing special but I can easily relate to most of it. She again successfully made me fell in love with her book.
But really, do all of her books have that little picture of Louisa and Will on the cover? It’s a bit annoying.

Jojo Moyes is like an old friend that I can turn to and know exactly what I'm getting. While not particularly page turning or heart wrenching like her longer works. They were quick pleasure tales that made me enjoy the few minutes I got with each character. This would be a great book for people who don't have much time to read, but enjoy Moyes' writing.
Here’s my star breakdown of the novella & eight short stories in this volume:
Paris for One: 4/5 stars
Between the Tweets: 4/5 stars
Love in the Afternoon: 2/5 stars
A Bird in the Hand: 2/5 stars
Crocodile Shoes: 4/5 stars
Holdups: 1/5 stars
Last Year’s Coat: 3/5 stars
Thirteen Days with John C: 1/5 stars
The Christmas List: 3/5 stars
As can be seen, this was fairly hit or miss. I felt like these weren’t all written at the same point in Moyes’ career. For example, Last Year’s Coat and Holdups seemed written in a slightly less mature style. Many of these stories were forgettable, unfortunately, but I would still recommend this to Jojo Moyes fans.

nice stories
it’s not my favourite genre, especially since basically all of these stories were kinda unrealistic imo, but i do like to sometimes read these easy and light romances.
i did like that they were short stories. usually books like this drag the stories for too long without reason, to tell something that could be narrated in less than 20 pages. this on the other hand had the perfect length for each story, not dragging them uselessly.

4 stars for Paris for one. I really enjoyed Paris for one, though I would have enjoyed Nell being in Paris alone for longer than she was. I felt like she had some more growing to do on her own.
2-4 stars for the "other" stories. Some were quite cute and witty with fun endings, while others were odd and entirely forgettable.

Book #44 Read in 2018
Paris for One by Jojo Moyes
This was my first read by this author and I enjoyed it. In the main story, Paris for One, Nell has planned a weekend getaway to Paris for she and her boyfriend Pete. Pete leaves her hanging and says he cannot make it. Nell goes on her own, and ends up meeting a French waiter who is charming. Her independence comes out during this weekend and Nell is a changed woman. The other short stories are decently written. I borrowed this book from the public library.
