"Ein anderes Paradies" ist ein Jugendbuch von Chelsey Philpot.
Zur Aufmachung:
Das Cover ist sehr schön, die Farben sind mit Mint im aktuellen Trend, passen gut zusammen und wirken sehr gut mit dem Bild zusammen. Das Buch an sich ist weiß und schlicht, auch passend zum Umschlag.
Zum Inhalt:
Charlotte ist eigentlich ein normales Mädchen, sie ist sehr in sich gekehrt und beobachtet lieber, als zu urteilen. Damit zieht sie die Aufmerksamkeit von Julia auf sich, ein reiches ausgeflipptes Mädchen mit einer dunklen Seite.
Charlotte wird sofort in Julias Bann gezogen und Julia stützt sich auf sie, ebenso ihre Familie, die Charlotte direkt in ihren Kreis aufnimmt und ihr neben ihrer Liebe vor allem ihre Lasten aufläd.
Mir hat die Geschichte sehr gut gefallen. Die Sprache war schön, die Charaktere zwar ganz klar alle klischeehaft, aber durchweg sympathisch. Auch die Entwicklung der Geschichte war gut, allerdings hatte ich bei dem, was durch Andeutungen immer wieder angedeutet und an Spannung aufgebaut wird, ein skandalöseres, beziehungsweise tiefgründigeres Ende erwartet. Die Geschichte nimmt so ihren Lauf, plätschert in schöner Sprache vor sich hin, die ihr eine Tiefgründigkeit verleiht, die der Plot nicht ganz halten kann.
Trotzdem war ich nicht enttäuscht. Es ist ein nettes Jugendbuch über Freundschaft, Liebe, und darüber, dass der Schein oft trügt. Es wird klar: je heller ein Licht, desto tiefer die Schatten.

Somewhat mixed feelings despite the high rating. I won't be considering it a favorite but it had a lot of engrossing qualities. Should be an interesting Book Buddies discussion!

I like the plot and the characters, but I kept thinking about how similar it felt to We Were Liars. And I guessed the ending...
It was still worth reading though.

This book had the same sort of feel as a warm, lazy summer. It was nostalgic despite the fact that it clearly takes place now and I've never attended boarding school. Over all, the lazy pace of the book made me slow down and take it in, but I enjoyed it very much. It could have ended terribly sadly, but the author took the time to do an epilogue that left the story with some hope, closure and a sense of rightness.
This was a really good book. Except for all the French. That was frustrating. Better review to come when it's not 1:30 in the morning.
This book surprised me. It was beautiful. The writing was so poetic and the story was very meaningful. It was unlike anything I have read in quite awhile because it really made me think.

I fell in love with this book. I literally want to dive back into the world of the book and the Buchanans. At the beginning, I wasn't sure how I would feel about it, but I knew I loved the narrator/main character Charlotte/Charlie. Overall, I loved this! I wasn't really feeling the ending until the last 2 pages, at which point it regained my love. I actually can't wait to reread this book, and probably will buy a copy of it. I want a sequel!
