Завърших поредицата от единия инат. Финалът ме изненада, но го разгадах доста преди Йорг, което е странно при положение, че той минава за над средното ниво на интелигентност. Бележката на автора ме накара да го харесвам и уважавам

Even reading this book in small bits at a time (while moving & etc) is the reason that I didn't read it over a shorter span.....but damn. Things come together after two previous books; the circus man, all the foreign journeys, the dreams, and Chella. All of it really connects nicely at the last 1/3 of the novel. The first half is primarily lead-up and the continuing to link different powers together, and more bad behavior for Jorg. The last 1/3 is the pay-off after it all.
I understood the Dead King only 2 chapters before the reveal and man, I'm glad to have been fooled that long. Though really, I hadn't given much thought to what seemed to be the Devil of sorts. A greater evil? Or something like it when your protagonist is a murdering son-of-a-bitch who isn't beyond falandering or killing allies. In the end, it's a satisfying end that made me nearly toss my new Kindle across the couch. I mostly yelled at it as my mind caught up with what was unfolding.
Would rate 5/5 if the first half had moved faster, but hey, 4/5 is pretty solid.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I read a few reviews that felt that certain points dragged on a little bit, but I thankfully didn't have that issue. I did, however call who the Dead King was from a single line from Chella, and I wonder if the ending would have had more weight if I didn't know. Still, a fitting end for our favorite horrible person, with just enough growth to be believable while still staying Jorg. On to the next of Lawrence's series!
