she used her tears to wipe the blood of his face. if that isn’t real love

THE ROMANCE AAAAA one thing tahereh can never do wrong is show a villain who you’re supposed to hate and then make him the loveliest and most caring man whos terribly broken and who you can never hate

Nothing really happened and it just felt like a waste of my time.

Let us discuss.

1. This book is the definition of middle book syndrome. The plot was slow, barely progressed, and ended on a “cliffhanger” so bad I don’t even want to call it a cliffhanger. It just kinda ended??? There was no suspense, nothing major happened, I quite honestly don’t know what miss maam was thinking, but it was the wrong thing.

2. oh. my. god. Kamram needs to pull his STUPID HEAD out of his STUPID ASS AND GET HIS LIFE TOGETHER. The entire book hes just MOPING AROUND “Alizeh this Alizeh that ugh I’m so wimpy I can’t even hear her name without being butthurt”. Get over it. Also: “Without lifting a finger--without even raising her voice She'd simply stood tall, and his world had collapsed.” Sorry. What????

This is YOUR fault, Kamran. Stop acting like a victim and grow up. Alizeh didn’t do SHITE to you, you just fell in obsessive love with a girl and without her doing anything you’re just placing things onto her name. “oh shes so perfect oh shes such an angel blahblah” she didn’t even like you and you just kissed her and wanted to marry her and how are your delusions her fault??? PFFT PLEASE.

3. As of now, I’m all for a Cyrus endgame. I thought he was really cooool and his personality meshed well eith Alizeh and they had great chemistryyyy ok amazing. But then the author pulls out the “he ‘knew’ her for forever and has been madly in love with her” card??? Like wtf is this walmart Aaron Warner? Ew. That kinda ruined it for me. It was unnecessary and gross and ew.

Despite the beautiful writing this series still fails to cover up Tahereh Mafi’s immature plotlines and shallow characters. It’s a shame I’m unable to DNF a series.

what.
what.
what.
“Let me worship you”
WHAT?????
TEAM CYRUS-ALIZEH 100% WHAT THIS SHOULD BE ILLEGAL TO WHIP MY EMOTIONS TO AND FRO LIKE THIS.
in tahereh mafi’s writing the first man can never get the woman, I should’ve known this by now.

Back to this series, and let me tell you I couldn’t wait to see what happens after the first book ended on a cliffhanger.
Not just a cliffhanger but THE MOTHER OF ALL CLIFFHANGERS. The girl is whisked away on a dragon by a prince and taken to his kingdom. All while the love interest, Kamran, stands there watching.

In this book, we see Alizeh being torn between the two men. One who defended her but ultimately put her in danger. And one who’s offering her a marriage, a partnership. Alizeh is trying to make up her mind about what she needs to do because after all she is a queen to a people that have been struggling for years and this marriage could be the beginning for something greater than herself.

I’m going to say one thing and one thing only: if Alizeh and Cyrus are not endgame I will throw a tantrum worthy of a toddler who hasn’t napped in a whole week.

The reason why this book is not a 5-star is because it was too long. It didn’t feel like it had much plot and it might be because this is the middle book in a series, but it felt anticlimactic to read it after waiting to see what happens in the love triangle.

Kamran’s POV chapters were incredibly annoying in the sense that the man was doing nothing. All the characters were just whining, going about in circles trying to fix something and doing absolutely nothing in the process.

I can’t wait to read the next book and see what happens. Hopefully, it won’t have a similar effect.

This is maybe a 3.5?

A good read but with some issues.

I think there’s just too much exposition and not enough going on tbh.

Buttttt Cyrus is everything. I love him and he better be end game.

Kamran’s POV was so boring. I’m sorry I don’t care about him. Or anything he has going on. Except what’s happening to his face. But other than that. His relationship with Alizeh is superficial and he’s just a spoiled brat.

Again, Cyrus is my man. I think I like the sad boys.

I’m a bit upset because I thought this was a trilogy but it’s now a 5 book series with 2 books not even out. Why are authors doing this! Imma stick with it cause it’s strangely addicting this series.
