I genuinely wanted to love this book, I tried soooo hard but it just wasn’t it for me. I absolutely loved and adored the first one and had such high expectations for this one. I felt soooo disappointed and let down. The storyline to me was shit there was no tension, it felt lowkey forced but also the love at first sight wasn’t it for me either. It felt very draggy like I had to get over half way for a first kiss? Absolutely loved the retreat aspects but some aspects/methods did not sit right with me at all, to me there was so many ways to reopen old traumas and deepen others I love the education side but they don’t actually need visuals for some of them. I definitely think not everything of the retreat was needed as that was what made it feel draggy for me, would’ve loved a time jump say chapter 12 after they completed the retreat and say fast forward a couple years and say do mini flashbacks to parts of the retreat we didn’t see. To me their love felt forced and like a trauma bonded too which I know isn’t great but isn’t bad either but I definitely think that we needed a gap between them falling falling and the retreat to show progression

I went into this book FULLY convinced i wouldn’t cry. And i’ll have you know, i absolutely BAWLED my eyes out for atbk. and i read that twice. this series has such a special place in my heart and knowing that there is a happy ending in this book makes me love it even more. knowing poppy, rune, savannah and cael were all able to be okay again is what made me love this book so much. i was sure i wouldn’t cry but i ended up straight up sobbing within the first 30 pages. at the sheer mention of poppy i was broken again. THANK YOU tillie for another book that broke me into a million pieces. i can’t wait for the next one.
