I found this story incredible. It felt like a Greek tragedy just unfolding piece by piece in front of me. I loved it, and was so invested in the characters from the very beginning. Loved it.

I couldn't quite give it 5 stars because the ending felt oddly extended. I could have finished the story about 50 pages sooner, and it would have been artistically balanced and satisfied. I'm still a little puzzled by why we follow Kathy into prison. I'm mulling on it.

On the whole, though, so good.

This review probably describes my reading preferences more than the quality of this book; I still feel compelled to write a review. To put it simply, finishing this book was a test of endurance. I do not like the writing of Gabriel Garcia Marquez and the style of writing in this book is very similar: three paragraphs describing the experience of brushing ones teeth while having nothing to do with the plot.
The plot of the story is good, which I'm guessing is why they made the movie.

If Virginia Woolf's writing is something you enjoy then give this book a go. If you're in doubt, do yourself a favor and just watch the movie.

Could not put this down.

This was a very good book. Characters were relatable and well developed and the story is very believable. Some of the character development got a little tiresome, but in the end, that information helped mold the characters in support of the plot.

I listened to the audiobook, narrated by the author. Highly recommend it.

Goodreads, why don't you allow half-stars in your ratings?!

I'd give this book a 3.5 stars. This was a story about a woman who had a crumbling life and a man who intended to save her. However, their crazy rubbed off on each other and destroyed everyone's lives. Overall fascinating and entertaining.

I enjoyed the narrative juxtaposition of everyone's lives and how they all came together. However, at times I felt a little jaded by the dramatics of the main characters.
