Miles has been my favorite MMC from this series so far, I liked that he wasn't so dark all the time like Grey and Steele. This book made me dislike Knox even more. I really liked Willow and I felt so bad for her throughout this book but I am glad she finally got her happy ending. I am very intrigued by Jacob and am excited for his story.

this was better then I imagined it would be, the brother's ex thing made me weary but honestly it played out well in my opinion. I liked Miles, he was the over the top hero I needed at the moment and he also had cute/soft moments that had me weak lol Willow was also great, she went through a lot of growth in this book which was great to see where she ended vs. where she started. this book was already at a disadvantage bc it was following steele's book and i am a steele fan for life, truly obsessed but this was still a good story. I found myself flying through it unable to put it down which is one of mg favorite parts about this series. VERY excited for Jacob and Melody's story next month
Secret Obsession is the third book in the Hockey Gods series, but it can be read as a standalone.
Miles Whiteshaw has always wanted his brother’s, Knox, girlfriend. Even before she was with Knox, he wanted her (I say wanted because “crush” doesn’t seem like a strong enough word to describe his feelings). Anyway, after a breakup between them, he sees his chance.
Willow is embarrassed in front of everyone because of their break up and wants nothing to do with the Whitshaw brothers. She’s not the same girl she was though because she’s falling apart. She gets kicked off of the dance team and just drowns her feelings in alcohol.
Miles is determined to make Willow see him and that he’s not like his brother. He won’t leave her…even if it’s what she wants. He does anything to protect her and show her how much he loves her…including unaliving someone right in front of her so she becomes an accomplice and can never leave him.
I’ll start by saying I HATE Knox. I know this story isn’t about him, but wow, I hate him. Moving on…it took me a while to warm up to Miles. He didn’t listen to Willow when she said she didn’t want him nor did he listen when she said no. And she was truly saying no. Also he almost unalived her on accident?
But he also did try to help her (he tried to get her to stop drinking to escape), albeit in a harsh way. And he did do some big things for her, like their first date. Damn, that was huge.
As for Willow, she realized that not everyone is going to leave her, and her family did love her even though they rarely said the words. She realized that Miles truly loved her.
I am so upset that they weren’t together because of a misunderstanding. If only Miles had been clearer about what he meant that day…Oh well, it all worked out in the end.
This book gave a little glimpse of the next book, and I can’t wait. To go with the titles of the books in this series, I am obsessed. (Also, I can’t wait for Knox’s book because I’m still mad at him).
Tropes:
Brother’s ex
Dark Bully
Hockey romance
Stalker
OTT J/P
Unaliving
Touch her and die

He’s loved her from day 1, kills a man (lmao) and protects her. Singer and hockey player. More exciting tension and action.
Oh wow - Miles Whiteshaw took me by surprise. The quiet younger brother of the loud playboy player, Knox, has a dark side I did not see coming. He has secretly been in love with Knox's year-long "girlfriend" Willow. And when Knox finally devastatingly breaks her heart, Miles has his chance. Willow is in no position to give her heart away to anyone, let alone another Whiteshaw man, but circumstances force her and Miles together and despite his extreme methods, she can't stay away. This is a dark bully romance so as always, check your triggers. Miles is more unhinged and dominating than even Steele & Greyson but he has a softer side. He cares for Willow in a very warped way and does everything to show Willow that he will not leave her, despite how hard she tries to push him.
Grade: B
Hmmm…Miles took it too far in this one…not even with the actual crimes lol I mean with Willow…
