really good writing and the vibes were immaculate, i could really visualize the settings very well and i was super immersed. however, the story itself was pretty meh. the MC immediately began suspecting the antagonist and was basically right about everything which just didn’t make for an interesting story and almost made it seem like there would be a crazy twist at the end, but there just wasn’t one??? kenji was a super interesting character, though.

Not itself a stellar book, but it delivered on the thing that I sought it out for. I really just wanted some nice, weird, effed up short story to sink my teeth into, and there were certainly aspects of that. It took a little to get into the gory details but once it did, it satisfied. While not the finest writing, there are honestly still some lines that stick with me. Not gory, but there was a line about
Americans seeming so lonely because they are immigrants.
I really liked that bit.

It's a well paced and well written book. I really felt for Kenji as his regular tour with a weirdo takes a turn. Heavy themes of sexuality, prostitution, places in any society, and violence. I feel like some of it flew over my head

It isn't as horror or killing as I thought it would be. It was more tense than anything with how weird Frank is, then how to get rid of him. It is still a good book, but not as violent as I hoped as weird as it sounds.
