Book of doom and despair. I regret picking up this book only because I feel empty now that I’ve finished it and I have to wait to read the rest of the series. Absolute masterpiece of complex characters and relationships and worlds. The plot is so captivating and deep that I had to sit and think after each chapter.

I absolutely love Jemisin's writing, and while I'm not usually a fantasy girl, I loved being in this world. I thought the POVs were great, the twists were brilliant, and the plot (while sometimes confusing) was gripping and engaging. Can't wait to finish this trilogy and get some more answers to the burning questions the ending left me with!

When I reached chapter 17 when you kinda get the plot twist my mind was BLOWN AWAY, I was so excited for the rest and would easily give it 5 stars but after that the story just goes straight downward, nothing happens and it becomes really BORING! and some parts really annoyed me, and in the end nothing really happens? I think it's because this is a series of books so this is just a beginning but I can't see any further potential, not gonna finish the series!
I wanted to give it 5 so bad but I didn't like it that much, not gonna rate it, really confused with this one.
