Gena Showalter is a fantastic paranormal romance author. This is right in line with what I would expect from her as she always delivers on the steamy romance scenes and makes you feel what the characters are feeling.

The first two chapters of this book were really good, the rest of the book was a drag. Which is a shame because it could have been a really great book if only there was world-building, character development and an updated and improved plot.
To me the characters felt flat, Maddox was alright I guess but Ashlyn was stright up annoying, she practically did nothing in the book, at least Maddox did something but even then whatever it was was not memorable. Also, where was the plot? The only reason why I got through this was by skim reading all so that I could be one step closer to reaching my book goal of 2021

Consider me a new fan of the Lords of the Underworld. I love the whole concept surrounding Pandora's box and the Greek gods. The Lords and their demons are interesting and complex. The first book in a series like this was bound to be heavy, filled with information and new concepts. I liked Maddox and Ashlyn. They had an instant attraction to each other that grew into something more. There was also a nice balance between the other characters, enough to make me want to read the next book to see what happens...
What a fascinating world. I quickly was sucked into this world of demons, God's and other supernaturals. All the men are very unique and I can't wait to read more about them.
Maddox (Violence) was a very unique character, especially with his constant dying every day. Ashlyn was a strong character, even with her powers constantly immobilizing her.
“You are mine, woman, and I am yours. Until you, my life was desolate. I existed, but I didn’t truly live. Now I live, even in my death.”
Overall, these two were a sexy, unique complete that I really want to see more of. I can't wait to see what happens in the next book.
