I enjoyed the book but found it a bit of a slow start. Now that the stage it set, I’m interested to see what happens next!
Graphic: Death
Moderate: Kidnapping
Minor: Rape
I loved this book and can tell I am going to love this series!! I loved all the characters and this new world I have entered and Ashlyn and Maddox's love affair was hot, hot, hot! I can't wait for questions to be answered as this series goes along. My only complaint is that the author didn't bring up the fact that Ashlyn isn't immortal and Maddox would live forever into her decision to sacrifice her life... I felt like it would have been for believable that way. But overall I definitely loved this book and will continue on with the series. A must read :)
It’s bad……. So very bad!!! I’m only giving it two stars because the premise had potential.
The main thing that blows me is the fact that I finally got a paranormal romance with a grown woman instead of some “girl not yet a woman” but she’s …. A virgin….. and insecure…… and completely inexperienced with men *eye roll*. I MIGHT have been able to get over this plot point if the reason wasn’t so utterly ridiculous…. It’s because she can hear voices and that makes her weird. Soooo this grown woman that apparently quite attractive couldn’t secure so much as 2nd base because she’s weird? I’m just not buying it. Also the white cotton panties and bra??? Whoooo???? What grown women y’all know is wearing that?? I can’t.
The warriors possessed by demons apparently don’t know what Tylenol is but they have advanced security systems. Also….. they’ve got a castle but a shower/ bathtub combo??? If I live in a literal castle…. I’m not “stepping into the tub” for a shower. Make it make sense.
The plot trods along. They’re instantly in love but nothing really happens for the first half of the book. There’s also an underlying beauty and the beast plot in there…. I just ….. *sigh*. Don’t do it. There’s better romances out there. The plot is crap and even the sexy scenes are crap.

I REALLY wanted to like this. Everybody likes Gena's Underworld series.
Extremely slow read, not near enough meat, pushed myself hard to finish. Ugh.

Oh-La-la! :D
The reason why I read this book was because of its Greek myth theme to it. I was not really expecting the S.T.E.A.M.Y scenes I’d be reading.
The premise of this book is just amazing. Gosh! How did you come up with that Ms. Showalter? :D I was really impressed how believable the myth you have woven for this story. Pandora was there but the rest of the Greek Gods weren’t mentioned individually though.
The immortal warriors of the Greek gods were punished because of the release of the demons inside the box that Pandora was guarding. Each warrior hosts one demon as a punishment for releasing the evil that resides within the box and our main protagonist Maddox was the host of Violence. His urge to kill people was incontrollable which caused the death of Pandora. The Lords of the Underworld (the warriors cursed by the gods) lived in Budapest dealing with their own demons.
Our female protagonist was Ashlyn Darrow. She desperately wanted the voices to disappear and when she is with Maddox it does.
The characters on this book were very well crafted. I liked how each of the LOTU had their own defining characteristics. You get to know each and everyone of the characters main or supporting.
The Darkest Night is definitely a book I’ll remember. I will be reading the rest of the series when I get the time. I am very curious about how this series would turn out. I am not a usual reader of books with HOT stuff in it but I don’t regret reading this!
If recommend it for those readers who want something new and steamy! Hahaha. Not just steamy but SERIOUSLY STEAMY read then I highly recommend this.

I had to re-read this one because it was stuck in my head. It's fasts pace story, where it is third-person point of view of both the main characters. I want to say its a retold story, but it's really not, there is more going on than just the romance. Not only do you have to read them in order but each character is different from his or her characters that makes them stand out per se.
This story focuses on Ashley and Maddox mostly throughout the book there are also other characters point of view that pop up to keep readers on the loop of what is happening. This book was one I was not expecting because it has a supernatural effect this does venture into fairytales and mythology blend in all together. The author's imagination has no bounds and I am excited to re-read her stories. I want to say that it ends with an HEA but there is more to the story than just them, it does continue with others but the story is much more interesting than just romance. Not to down tone the romance but WOW does not even come to describe the scene or what is happening with the characters.
