This first book in the series was very interesting. I'm now a Lord of the Underworld fan. This novel tells us about how the Lords got to be Guardians in the time of Ancient Greece. And also how when they killed Pandora & released the evil contained in her box the punishment they received from the Greek Gods on Mt. Olympus.
it is another five star from me y'all. this book captured my attention all the way. I like the story How the demons were bound tinge humans. and the curses...it made the book so real. the self sacrifice...wow. I wish ...Oh Well loved it nevertheless.
From all the high ratings that I saw on GR I thought it would be a bit better. Can't say it wasn't good though. It was a decent read all in all. The gory details were pretty cool and the sex scenes between Ashlyn and Maddox were pretty steamy! The one thing that really got me about this book was that towards the beginning, when it was talking about the Lords and their demons, it reminded me alot of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. I saw a quite a few similarities. In the end, though it was all pretty good.
I was so excited for this book and Gena Showalter DID NOT LET ME DOWN!! So good!!!!!! I like Anya’s personality but seriously? A skirt so short you can almost see her underwear?? Why??😂 That’s not important though. What is is that Maddox and Ashlyn found each other!!
First of all I feel like I am super late on this bandwagon. I actually loved this book. Super adult and so wonderfully written. Interesting and not a moment of boredom. The characters were interesting and full of dimensions. I found myself wanting to know just as much about the surrounding cast of characters as I did the main couple in this book. That always marks a book series as a win in my book. I couldn't put this book down. The world building is great and not too transparent. Ashlyn was a dream and I loved all of her growth and struggles and the fact that she was super stubborn. She was a great heroine. I can't wait to read the rest of the series! Great book! :D
There was very little character build up, and no relationship build up. The reader is expected to buy into a romance of two people who literally met in the woods and are suddenly enthralled with each other half a page later. However i am not a big fan of books like this in general, so I might actually be missing the point of the book. If the intent is to get ones blood going, this book isn't the worst, however as a story, it isn't the best.
fast-paced
I decided to start this series with book three. That a horrible idea because I had 0 idea about what as going on. I also didn't have a good appreciation for the drama that was unfolding. Don't get it twisted though, Danika is still annoying. And I know that I should sympathize with her since I've read this book, but I didn't.
Back to this story. I absolutely love the concept for this series. It's such a unique take on Pandora's box. I loved that there are so many Lords for us to meet in future books.
Maddox and Ashlyn were a great couple. I felt that they actually fit. I did take a star off because I wish there was better smut. There's all this tension, but it did't end up being executed well.
