This book was light on plot, light on character development, and heavy on world-building.

The paranormal aspect, immortal Greek warriors with demons trapped inside them, is a cool concept. The romance aspect... not so cool. I get the instant-attraction deal but this was pushing that to the limits.

To make matters worse, I could not get into either character-- Maddox or Ashlyn. The secondary character were much more interesting. Particularly Lucien (Death) and Paris (Promiscuity) and Gideon (Lies).

I plan to continue this series due to the promise of better plots and better developed characters. The reviews of later books seem to improve... And my favorite PNR author, Kresley Cole, is a big Lords fan - so I have hope for this series yet.

Wow, it's been 6 years since I first read these! Didn't realize it had been that long. I just had a massive reread of JR Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series, so I thought I'd move on to these now. :)

I happened to really enjoy this book. It was like an adult twist to a fairy tale. I've read few other books dealing with immortal warriors and "gods" and unfortunatly they are all basically the same. This one is the same as the others, however the fairy tale idea and the rouge god was a beautiful twist. It gave the story a much needed uniqueness to it and pulled me as the reader in more. I found that i was more willing to ingest the story as it derailed from the common immortal gods etc stories. It was very romantic and sweet and I thought Maddox was simply delicious as i tend to think most story heros are. I liked that Ashlyn was her own small fragile heroin as well. <3 it was a god book i look forward to purchasing the next book.

I read the prequel and was expecting a different first book, there was a lot of explanations, but also several demons had left and they are now returning. I felt like missing something for a little while, but things happen so fast that I couldn’t focus only in that particular.

I liked Maddox and his curses are very disturbing, but at the same time it’s very necessary to see him suffer after all the danger he put the Earth through, plus he killed in cold blood a goddess and for that he needed to suffer more than anything, the Gods don’t know how to forgive.

But I didn’t really fell for this couple. I don’t know if it was Ashlyn being a little boring or her gift that didn’t help the lords. I expected more of her, she showed so much strength by going after some answers that at first I thought she was more strong and smart, but she actually just go where she’s sent and believed in everything her bosses said. Crazy, right?

I liked how much Maddox fought for her, even after realizing she could be the death of them all, but he fell for her and just couldn’t let it go. It was really nice seeing him just like a human.

I liked this first book and will continue this series.

Yippee! Another Calgon-take-me-away book series that gives you extraordinarily high and unobtainable expectations of men! Seriously, will you ever be able to go on a date again and not think, "*sigh* You don't have purple eyes, you aren't freakishly muscular and you rarely, if ever, morph into a god. Lame. And a buffet? Really? You couldn't transport me to India for authentic Indian cuisine? *rolling eyes*" But this story was sweet. Though I do have to mention I was amazed at how often the lead female character was sick, puking or being murdered. And as strange as this is, I found myself wondering if she ever got to eat. She ate one time, threw it up and then never ate again - and the book was very detailed about 3-4 days of their lives. I kept waiting for her to get moody from hunger as in, "How can I love you? I'm so goddamn hungry I could eat the ass end of a Buick! Seriously? Is it too much to ask for a sleeve of crackers?" But that's romance novels for you, superseding reality at ever turn.

I've found a new series! I love the inner battles these warriors face and love the victory even more! I can't wait to read the rest of the books.

What a great start to what I am hoping is an amazing series. As the first book, there was a lot of story/character building but it didnt retract from the main characters Maddox and Ashlyn. I really enjoyed their story and hope to see more of them as the series continues. Onto the next!
