I'll be honest, I didn't go into this one expecting to like it as much as I did, but it was an absolute delight. Could it stand another pass by an editor? Yes. Did it lag a little in the middle? Also yes. But it was steamy as hell with an alien/fantasy concept that actually felt fresh and interesting and not the same thing we've all read a dozen times before. I'll be going back to this one!
3.5 // The overall story is engaging and unique up until the 70% mark when it becomes rushed. There’s too many convenient moments to hurriedly bring the story to resolution in addition to an info dump for the religious part of the plot. It’s a shame that this part of the story is so under developed; especially considering it blessedly departs from the typical abduction-trafficking trope that most sci-fi/alien romance are built around.

Story takes awhile to pick up pace but things do get more exciting a couple chapters into the book. Definitely not the worst fairytale retelling out there.
