3.5 stars rounded to 4 for goodreads!

I enjoyed this one. Someone told me it’s similar to the show Scandal, which I love! & I can definitely see the similarities! I immediately started book 2 to see what happens next!

This book was like a nice warm blanket. Even though I knew from the beginning where this whole story was going, it made me feel warm. Until I had 30 pages left and I checked Goodreads, only to find out, that this was a series. Then it wasn't a nice warm blanket anymore, that blanket was suddenly on fire, because I realized there is going to be a cliffhanger and I am going to have to wait for almost 3 fucking months to read the next book.

I wasn't thrilled while reading part one of this duet. I loved the Manwhore series, so I had high expectations for Mr. President. The plot kept my interest, but the writing was simple. Knowing how great Evans's writing can be, I was disappointed at how bland this read for most of the story. Of course, I still want to read the continuation of the duet, so on to book 2 I go...

The heroine came off as super, SUPER young. Almost like this was a New Adult. And when you are talking about someone dating a politician? You don't want her to be that transparently gushy/immature/flighty. The romance was good, but I wanted something more to the overall book.

DID NOT FINISH: 43%

Just moved slow then super fast. Nothing inherently wrong with the book or characters, just wasn't my vibe, I guess.

I think it started off great and then it went downhill. I wanted more romance from them rather than just sex. I wanted to see their frustratiins with their lives. Their lifestyles taking a toll on them. More drama from others noticing their sneaking aroind and not having it. I wanted to see how Matt would have stood up for her when shit hit the fan but it was all so low conflict.

We also get so little back story about them as characters. Your parents being politicians does not mean it is your personality trait. How was his college experience. His life after uni working for his grandpa? His relationship with his grandpa before choosing to be a president? Was it great? Charlotte other hobbies other than having a crush on Matt? Other than jogging? What does she do for fun other than fucking Matt? She also never meets her friends like barely does

They also did not have the hard conversations. Like she wanted kids? Why was she sweeping it under the rug? That should have been a bigger deal than anything..

Also there was a lot of helicopter narration where we are told this and this happened rather than us enjoying that moment and I feel robbed of it.

I LOVED this book. I've never been into the political romance trope, but this may just have changed my mind.

Matt and Charlotte are wonderful together. It's full of sexual tension, spicy scenes and tortured feelings. There was no forced drama. I ate up every bit of it.

It's just a shame about the second book because that's a completely different story...

WOW! Katy Evans knocked this book out of the political arena!
Who knew cut throat politics could be sexy as hell?!?!

This book centers around Charlotte. She is the epitome of a perfect daughter raised in the light of tragedy with brains to be a contender for any powerful man. She is beautiful, intelligent, poised and grew up in the political arena while at the same time has an intimate knowledge of the White House and all it entails with the people within.

We have Matt... the former Presidents son. He also is overcoming a tragedy, a national tragedy. He is so powerful and sexy, the pages were literally sizzling as I read them!

Matt and Charlotte cross paths when she is very young. But one look at each other and she just fell 100% for him. No one would compare, ever.... Many years later, He is running for President, independently... and the one person he seeks out is Charlotte... as he too, has never forgotten her either.

Oh Katy Katy... I freaking adore you!!! You have always written such amazingly hot and powerful characters. All consuming characters! And Matt and Charlotte are no different, but the twists and plot secrets in this book makes this story so beyond amazing!!! I never saw anything coming... You kept it so fresh and alive and tragic! I can't say enough about you and your writing... always a fave!!

Read this book my lovelies!! I am dying for book 2!!
