3 stars. I've come to the conclusion that me and Katy Evans writing just don't mix. Her heroes are always great and likable but her heroines leave so much to be desired. I just don't like them. Doesn't help that the stories themselves just fall flat for me.

I loved the plot of this. It's an age gap forbidden romance. Matt is running for president and Charlotte is on his campaign team. I thought that was all fine and dandy until they actually hooked up. Then they lost all steam and everything became boring and repetitive between them. Charlotte is annoying and incredibly whiny and just all around a very dull character. Matt fares a lot better and actually has personality even though his dirty talk game was subpar.

Overall, this was just okay. I'll read the next book seeing as it's the conclusion but I'm not expecting much from it.

Excellent

I had to read this book two times; one in a hurry, desperate to know what happens. The second time leisurely to enjoy and savor because it's that good. When I finished both times, my feelings were of yearning for this couple's HEA and impatience for the sequel. I loved both characters, Matt so charismatic and Charlotte so ladylike, loving, determined to do what's right. As Matt campaigns for presidency, Charlotte is at his side helping, wanting it for him and for her country. Yet Matt is determined to stay single because he doesn't want to sacrifice a wife to the loneliness that a First Wife suffers. Yet, there is love. The development of their love seemed to have started when Matt visited her house so many years ago, with his father who was the President at the time. The attraction took a break but when they meet again with Matt running and he asks her to assist in his campaign, it just had to happen. After all, after his visit 10 years ago, she wrote to him and promised to help if he ever ran for President and he was collecting on the offer. I especially loved the part where he said he was waiting for her to grow up, le sigh, so romantic. This book was sweet and romantic but also passionate and it was perfect!

such a pure love!

DID NOT FINISH: 11%

The age gap trope, particularly when the main female character is so young and naive, and when there is a massive power imbalance, is not something for me

This one was super Sexy and Crazy GOOD! I love Katy Evans she always seems to deliver just want you need in a book and she did not disappoint in this one. Matthew Hamilton is strong, sexy man and HEEL I would so vote for him. But when the past comes back and she is all grown up will it get in the way of the one thing he has worked so hard to achieved...OH this book gets intense and very on the edge, and I just could stop reading it.
Looking fro something sexy and intense this one is for you because once you meet Matt you wont needs anything else!

HOLY HELL I wasn’t expecting this to be so good! This is the JFK, Jr. fanfic that I never knew I ALWAYS wanted!

**Can we take a minute and appreciate the beauty that was John F. Kennedy, Jr., God rest his soul?**

I should say, I don’t know if this was really intended to be JFK, Jr., fanfic. But he kept running through my head as I listened to this one demanding that I Google photos of him!

So, onto the book: Matthew Hamilton is the handsome son of an assassinated U.S. President and he is now running for office himself. Charlotte’s had a crush on him since she was 11, but she never expected that he’d return her feelings.

When she begins working in his campaign office, sparks fly. And. It. Is. Delicious.

This was my first Katy Evans book, but I will definitely be reading more (especially the sequel, Commander in Chief. The ending on this one left me running to see if the library has it too. Thanks goodness it does!). I love Evans’ writing style.

I also loved Matt. Like, a lot. He is sweet, he is uber-smart and he is passionate about wanting America to be the best it can be! (He’s actually pretty passionate about Charlotte too). This book is replete with secret trysts (I’ll never look at the Jefferson Memorial the same way), smoldering looks across office spaces and all the political strife you’d expect. I loved it!

To sum up: MATTHEW HAMILTON FOR PRESIDENT OF MY HEART!

Great female reader, male reader not so good. Story was intriguing but no resolution.

Katy Evans did a fantastic job! I could not put this book down. I was extremely sad at how it ended and waited more right then. I think that this is the best book I have read from Katy Evans since Mine.
