Dirty talk, a motorcycle, and a single dad
Hot and sweet and so freaking sexy. Less angsty than the blurb made it sound but as a parent, there’s still a part where the kid is in peril that got my heart pumping. SPOILER the boy is okay. Loved watching Gil and Rowan’s relationship evolve, how they fit so neatly and unexpectedly together.

This was... not as good as I hoped it would be. Don't get me wrong, it's fine! I'm certain other people will enjoy it more than me and maybe even love it to pieces. It just fell flat for me. It felt like one spicy scene after the other, with the very bare minimum amount of plot and characterization to bridge the gaps.
Now, I like good spice as much as the next person, but I need substance too, you know? I need depth. I need the feels. But because it was essentially more spice than plot, I didn't really feel like I got to know the characters at all. I knew about as much at the end as I did at the start of the book. Yes, I learned that Fisher is a surly pre-teen with the usual pre-teen problems. But we never got to the heart of him and the way this is written, he feels more like a plot device than anything else. I also learned quite a bit about Rowan and Gil's sexual preferences, but... beyond that? Barely anything. I don't know any of them. Not really.
This breaks my heart though because I adore EM Denning's solo work! She's been so reliably good, great even! But this wasn't it. It's my first time reading one of her co-writes with Kate Hawthorne and it might also be my last.

I am a big fan of EM Denning and every time she writes with Kate Hawthorne… it’s a banger!
This story really pulled at my heart-strings. Both Gil and Rowan are at places in their lives where they feel like they don’t deserve more than what they have. Gil is because he’s had his heart broken and Rowan is because he’s devoted to making his son’s life easier. I loved seeing how they fell for each other despite not wanting to, overcoming their own self-doubts, and learning to be in a healthy relationship.
I’m usually not partial to single-parent stories but I really enjoyed Rowan’s son’s plot line and character. I adored every scene with Gil and him (even if I was holding my breath each time!!) and seeing the acceptance of the entire family made me heart feel so happy.
I definitely recommend this book for contemporary romance fans!

This was a nice enjoyable read. The characters were interesting - I especially enjoyed Fisher.
Low angst, with some great spicy scenes.
First book I’ve read with these these authors collaborating. Well done!

A nerdy single dad, and bad boy next door neighbor. I liked the characters, but the character development pace was a bit off and went from fun casual to love very quickly. Each character had a really good moment or two, but overall it was a little rushed and flat. Also, personally, I wish there was an epilogue.
