I was a little scare, since I was picturing Carter with someone else in my mind. I stand corrected, there’s no other person better for Carter than Diana. The way the dual timelines worked, was fantastic. Carter was everything I wanted and more, daddy Carter didn’t disappoint. I was afraid not to like Diana as much, since she was new to this whole dynamic, and friends group, but I was so wrong. This was perfect! Carter is broken, but for so many reasons I didn’t expect. I had such a different story with him and his wife, but that why this is a must read! I couldn’t stop this audiobook at all, I couldn’t stop reading, it had my heart beating so fast in every single chapter. Brittney continued to be the queen of military romance, suspense and all the unexpected, unputdownable stories. There’s no way she can write a bad book, period. If you haven’t read this series. What are you waiting for? It’s absolutely phenomenal.

“I’d let the world burn for just one more minute with her”

I went back and forth between 2 and 3 stars.
I was so looking forward to this one and unfortunately, it was entirely too long.
Too much superfluous info took me out of the story and I scanned a large part of this book.
I want to read the next (and last) book in the series but... I don't know.

Brittney always delivers the best stories. Anticipation, character development, and a great plot. We’ve all been waiting for Carter’s story since he was first introduced in the previous series and he didn’t disappoint.

I’m conflicted. So much happened in this book, it felt like I read 6 stories in one. The action was exciting and kept me turning the pages, but it also felt overly intricate. Carter’s vengeance arc, becoming the devil to uncover his wife’s murderer, feeling like he’d lost his soul in the process, was incredibly complex and not necessarily in a good way. It felt bogged down in details, like we could have trimmed the fat a bit and it still would have been a compelling plot. All of the politics, the science, the weapons race, were honestly fun to read, it was the sheer number of crossover characters and random politicians/billionaires that detracted from it all.

The romance was hot and cold. At some points the steamy tension was off the charts…but then it would drag on and on without going anywhere. And we spend a good 1/3 of the book being teased that Carter is going to be this loving Dom who will absolutely worship Diana, like a goddamn unicorn among mmc’s, only for that dream to deflate like a sad balloon. He basically realizes he “doesn’t have to be that guy” with her, while I had been silently screaming for their relationship to finally progress to that level. UGH. What a hottie, tho. In his 40s, dark and broody, dominant but also loves with his entire being and is obsessed with/worships his wife? All the ingredients were there, but instead of a molten chocolate lava cake from a Michelin starred restaurant, we got…a vanilla cupcake from a box mix

The Fallen One and Carter Dominick are absolutely everything! We've known of Carter Dominick for a long time, but never really gotten to KNOW him until now, and he is everything I was hoping for and more. Carter and his brilliant heroine are a fantastic couple who continue to have a deep connection over time, crazy circumstances, and distance. And when they are together? Absolute fire.

We also finally learn more about Carter's friendships with who he worked with before, as well as since starting Falcon Falls Security with Grayson Chandler. That's all woven brilliantly into the Falcon Falls Security crew and Bravo Team on the most intense case in the name of National Security... and love.

Brittney Sahin has this amazing talent of making you feel like you are a part of the story and actually in the scene with all of these amazing characters in the moment, and that continues in The Fallen One. I didn't want to put The Fallen One down for a single second!

I will never be disappointed when I read a book by Brittney Sahin! This one was so freaking amazing! This was the most recent book in the series but it was the first that I had read from it and now I’m on my way to Amazon to buy the rest
