I have been eagerly anticipating Carter’s story since he was first introduced in Chasing Fortune. He also made an appearance in Chasing the Storm. He’s always been this enigma and Brittney’s loyal readers have always clamored for more of him. It was definitely worth the wait.
There’s a reason Carter is known as The Devil. After listening to his wife be murdered while on the phone with her, he spent more than two years hunting down those responsible at the cost of his reputation and his soul. His reputation has been restored, but he doesn’t believe he deserves peace or happiness.
Five years later one phone call brings him right back to those dark days. He must now save the woman he’s become obsessed with. She’s the only woman who never lost faith in him. She always saw the good in him that he refuses to believe was there.
This story is rife with suspense, danger, intrigue, and passion. As with all of Brittney’s books, it’s more than just a love story. The world building and character development are detailed and in depth. You really get to know these characters. There is nothing surface level about them. The situations these guys find themselves in keeps you on the edge of your seat, and there are always plot twists you never saw coming.
I know many readers of this series had certain opinions of who Carter should end up with. I’m so glad Brittney listened when Carter spoke to her and went the direction she did with his book. It’s simply perfect. Carter deserves every bit of happiness he gets in this book.

Carter’s book is the most anticipated one I wanted to read since Roman’s story. Carter is so complex and unknown that I wasn’t sure what Brittney Sahin would come up with. But let me tell you, she banged it out of the park!
Carter has always been an enigma. He was soo dark and moody that we always wondered what made him that way. Was it because of his wife being murdered? Or was it something else.
His story starts from the beginning, when he was in the military. We saw him as a very loyal and loving husband that only wanted to make his wife happy. He met Diana here and you saw how their lives were intertwined from the beginning. How did he go from this to a morally gray, hard, alpha man? Well, I love that Brittney showed us his past and how he turned into who he is today.
There were so many twists and turns in Carter’s story that even though it was over 600 pages, the story flowed and ebbed seamlessly. I just couldn’t put it down. My heart broke for Carter so many times but was put back together as his love story with Diana progressed throughout the book.
Carter got his HEA with the perfect heroine, Diana. She not only had him happy, but she healed him and made him whole. Thank you Brittney for giving us Carter and Diana!
Carter is no stranger to fans of the Falcon Falls series. His first appearance is in Chasing Fortune, book eight in the Stealth Ops series. But his story has eluded us and now is his time. I appreciated that Carter's story was not told via flashbacks. We needed this information as it is important to understand where he has been before we can move forward. Now I understand why The Fallen One is so long, it is basically two books. Brittney Sahin is a master storyteller, and this book is one of her best. She weaves tales of love and drama, keeping readers on their toes with plot twists and danger.
Carter is complicated, he is intense, he is protective, and that is why he is so good at his job. But it is this current job that will be his biggest test yet. Will he meet a woman that brings him to his knees?
I know my words cannot do justice to this book; my expectations were exceeded. I do recommend everything this author has written, and The Fallen One is her latest.
Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

Interestingly enough, I watched a TikTok #booktok last night about the characters we meet who are tough, rough, super competent, serious, and dark. We fall for them and can't wait for their story, but when we get it, the author has removed everything that made them who they were. They sort of change from the darkly alpha tough guy into more of a golden retriever, which sort of ruins the vibe. Brittney did not do that to Carter. Carter has been Carter and remains Carter. He does what is necessary to complete the mission.
We knew from previous books Carter was on a mission to avenge his wife's brutal murder, which he has accomplished brutally and handily. Along with his best dog, Dallas, by his side, he is now heading up Falcon Falls Security. Carter is mysterious, private, and broken. As the Falcon Falls series progressed, we've seen more of Carter's "softer" side and protective nature. But we never knew how he got there. The Fallen One gives us all the backstory.
He met our heroine, Diana, many years ago. She's brilliant and beautiful and has a crush on Carter; however, she's willing to keep it to herself because she knows he's married. You see their connection as time, circumstances, and life keep bringing them together. It's all very poignant. Once Carter enters his darkness, you can understand why he tries to keep his distance. When they are brought together again, our story really starts.
This is a slow burn--years of slow burn. The slow burn continues in this book. But it's a different sort of slow burn that is physical, intellectual, and emotional. The clock is ticking, and our brilliant physicist, Diana, must stop what has been put in motion. There are conspiracies and betrayals, and you really cannot tell the good guys from the bad guys. Falcon Falls in it all and works its magic to save the world. Meanwhile, Carter finds his way back from the dark and discovers his angel.
Falcon Falls just proves how talented a writer Brittney Sahin is. This series is not only exciting but also passionate. I love this series, and each book is my favorite, but The Fallen One is just perfect.

My good night!! I knew this character (Carter Dominick) was going to wreck me! Guess what.. he did!! In the best possible way, of course. Lol. He was someone that I could say was probably the most anticipated character for Brittney to write. She did not disappoint when it came to Carter. Within 10 percent of this book, my heart was absolutely broken. He was a character when he was introduced in Chading Fortune. You just knew he was this character that had so much depth and had soo much love to give. The events that shaped him, his past, and how he is such a guarded soul. He didn't deserve what happened to him in his 30s. He definitely went through his challenges. I am fully going on the record that Carter is an incredible character and is book husband material. He has easily claimed a top spot for me among Brittney's characters. I know I have said much about the MFC I will say, I loved loved loved her! (Since this is an early review) I am keeping the MFC anonymous to not spoil it for some of Brittney's readers. Their chemistry and his mouth with her are top notch! I love how she embraces his devil amd his angel! She new him in away that he deserved. She loved him in the way he definitely needed and accepted him without fault! Soulmates!
The author truly did a magnificent job with this book, I am positively smitten with The Fallen One, and I can't wait for the rest of the book Lover World to enjoy this gem!

WOW. Just… wow. I wasn't sure what to expect from Carter, but he blew me away. I loved the peek into the person he was before his wife died, and finally understanding all of the pieces that made him into the man he became after… and Diana - she's just awesome, all the way around. She's brilliant, and a badass who stands up for herself and those she cares about. She fell for Carter immediately, and yet, waited so long for their time to come. Their HEA was hard fought, and hard won. I love that they were able to overcome the ghosts haunting them and find happiness together. The action was suspenseful, the spice was red hot, the heartstrings were pulled, the supporting cast of some of my favorite characters was fantastic - as always, and Dallas might have taken the spot of my #1 pet. Such an amazing story from Brittney, as always. Highly recommend.
