Absolutely stunned by this.
There is much more of who Lecter is in this book. Its unsettling to see into his mind so much, yet also thrilling. There are sentences that are so beautifully written that you read them over again to make sure you get the full effect. This really is the best of the series so far and I have no doubts I will come back to this again

The beginning was very slow, but once I got to the last 200 pages I couldn't put it down. it just took a LONG time to get there, it seemed.

I loved it up until the end. I hated the end. It was horrible. The whole book was very true to the movie, which I saw first. The story was great the writing was great the characters were true to the first book, but the end sucked.

Bold ending, but I like the big swing. Not as well-crafted as SOTL in its attempt to be about larger themes (sexism in the workplace, what real evil is, if justice is a worthy pursuit). The characters meant to represent these barriers were a little too much of a caricature, their villainy almost comically one-dimensional, making some parts of the story feel grounded and others like an allegory. But I did enjoy the ambiguity in the ending and the questions it raises. It was also a delectable ride, so any failure to fully execute on the larger themes are forgivable imo.

Mio Dio. Non mi aspettavo questo finale per niente. Si è capovolta tutta la situazione iniziale della saga, è assurdo ( in senso buono). La scena della cena di Lecter con Starling mi rimarrà impressa per sempre probabilmente.

Parts of it feel like the previous Hannibal entries, but it's also unevenly paced, ridiculous and campy. And the ending is just nuts. No one and I mean no one besides Thomas Harris was asking for that ending. It isn't the worst thing I've ever read but boy does it pale in comparison to a novel like Red Dragon.
