Spring 2020 (March Live Read):

And flashbacks while in a bacta-tank || I kind of really love Billaba in this series, and her glibness. || The 'don't call me kid’ and ‘never mind’ thing is way overdone at this point. || Her art is just so on point.

These things really like to end their story on the 5th of their 6th issue. Whhhat are you saving to last.

Oh, duces. This last issue references [b:A New Dawn|20262705|A New Dawn (Star Wars)|John Jackson Miller|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1516016790l/20262705._SY75_.jpg|41325215], too. I'm going to finish this issue, but I'll have to come back and re-read it after finishing S3-S4 of Revels & reading New Dawn. But at least it did help me place wherein The Rebels timeline this all takes place.

The character’s excellent story is one thing - Jedi on the run after Order 66 - but the way they ORGANIZED the sequence of events? When to jump to the present and when to flashback, and also WHERE to flash back, I found masterfully clever.

Opening the first volume with the clones having such sweet banter with Caleb and Depa and THEN receiving the order was heartrending. I adORE the art style for these issues as well. The volume includes pages of alternate covers (as comic volumes tend to do) which are diverse in style and all equally appealing and splendid. I also found the art style more consistent than the Windu comics overall. Characters appear to be drawn the same way. Idk whether this is due to less collaboration with other comic artists on the same volume of work or not, but it kinda helped my head latch onto these characters since they had a consistent face.

Recommend to any fan of Rebels, or those who have yet to start it, like me!

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes! This is just as I hoped it would be.

My favorite of the admittedly few Star Wars comics I’ve read. Bridges the era of the Clone Wars to the time period of Star Wars Rebels flawlessly. Interesting new characters, new worlds, and all the characters we already knew were written true to their appearances on screen. Highly recommended.

This story seemed to have a more kid-bent then others in the Star Wars canon I was used to(it did tell the story of a child) but at the same time was a pretty brutal story. I never watched any of the clone wars show and this era of time in star wars is one i'm not very familiar with so I'm excited to keep reading.

Essential reading if you love Kanan Jarrus or Rebels, and an easy 5 stars from me. Loved getting this closer look at Caleb Dume before he becomes Kanan. This comic also does a great job of contextualizing a lot of his behavior in A New Dawn. I appreciate that message that for a former Padawan just trying to survive, self-reflection or examination isn't possible, nor is thinking about your former Jedi Master. Very emotional, yet shows the seeds of the man that Caleb grows into. Loved this!

I wish this had gone a bit deeper in fleshing out Kanan's character rather than just showing that LOOK, HE'S LIKE EZRA A LOT!
