Worldbuilding was confusing, writing was too slow, characters are too confusing, and the neologism was over the top. A bit disappointed, we need more good brown fantasy stories but this needs a lot of work.

It grabbed my attention at first but at the time I wasn’t in the mood to read a heavily political fantasy. I wanted something less cerebral for the moment. I’ll probably pick this back up at another time

This book is so hard to review for me, because most things are really good, but for some reason I just didn't connect with the characters. 

The worldbuilding is so interesting and promising, the plot is well thought through and engaging, and the characters seem well rounded, but for some reason I never could read more than a few chapters before getting distracted. Maybe the writing style just isn't my cup of tea. 

Anyway, this is actually quite a good book but it took me ages to finish, so I don't think I'll continue the series.
