I honestly don't understand how people can get anything out of this for their daily lives. Unless you are planning to lead armies to war, it feels like a big stretch.
I only read it because it was a selection for the goodreads group "Everyone has read this but me". I have a goal to read at least one of their selections each month, and I've already read the other two.

Not a full translation. Need to read a different version and then this will be a handy little reference version.
This book has been recommended to me on a number of occasions for its apparent applicability to various fields, from business to communication. However, I found that you really have to work hard to draw parallels between the statements about war and anything else. Most of this book is quite literally about the art of war, from how to tell whether an enemy has chariots or infantry by the pattern of the dust rising, to the many different types of terrain on which you might fight a battle. I feel like for what it is -- a treatise on the basics of waging a war in the 6th century BC -- it succeeds at being succinct, straightforward, and memorable. But for any modern applicability, you have to work too hard to stretch it; you're better off with an actual book from your particular field.

Honestly, not a big fan. You can witness the influence of Taoism on him and his philosophy, but it's unnerving to read about warfare as an art. But, it is a brief book and may cause you to reflect if you view this as a way to conquer obstacles in life and those who stand against you...just don't kill them.
