After reading Clare Sager's A Kiss of Iron book, I was an immediate fan and couldn't wait to dive into more of her books. This book is spicy and HOT. I am total fan of an FMC that is strong, tough, and unashamed of her body or to use it. It didn't matter what the MMC Sepher threw at her or much he tried to break her, Zita stood her ground and made sure he knew that she would never break. As the story progresses we begin to see a softer side to the MMC. Their relationship works because they both see their sharp edges and are willing to be cut for each other. Unfortunately, I did not like how much Zita punished Sepher for his actions nor did I like how she chose to do so, I didn't feel that the punishments were fair especially considering she tried to kill him. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it if you are looking for a fantasy read with LOTS of spice, just check the TW first.

this is …. SO, SO HOT? in a way that blew my mind, considering clare’s books have historically not been my cup of tea.
if you’re looking for a GENUINE, filled-with-hatred, want-to-murder-each-other enemies to lovers, filthy standalone — here you go. this is it.
this is RIFE with kinks — temperature play, spanking, collaring, degradation and humiliation, physical pain, master/pet, tail play, THINGS I DON’T EVEN HAVE NAMES FOR. this borders on dark with its sheer level of toxicity, and with some questionable levels of consent considering how much the FMC despises the MMC.
and i loved every second of it.
the concept: our main character is an acrobat hellbent on exacting revenge for the murder of her sister by a notorious fae prince. her plans go awry, and she ends up in servitude to him as his pet. thus commences the sexiest game of chicken ever played. these two hate one another and spend the entire book trying to break the other in various, fun ways.
my only issue is one common in standalones — the jump from enemies to lovers into i love you is just a little too sudden for my tastes, but it’s so sweet and hot that i barely even minded.
this was fun, can’t-read-in-public levels of hot, and forced some exciting introspection. i need more zita and sepher in my life and am now doubly motivated to return to a kiss of iron before the sequel comes out in hopes of a cameo or three or their own book again pls i beg.

Sepher is Tamlin but if he was kinky and even more of a walking red flag
Although predictable, (totally knew who really killed her sister pretty early on) I enjoyed the romance and spicy scenes! Sepher was hot but I did find Marigold a bit tiresome. Girl needs therapy. Still liked! Would give 3.4!
I put off reading this book for a while because the captive idea wasn’t appealing to me, but I kept seeing it highly recommended by people whose opinions I usually agree with online. I’m so glad I chose to read it! One of the top books I read in 2023! The spice was on another level. I didn’t expect it to be as hot as it was. Amazing! If you’re unsure like I was, give it a try!
In my head, Prince Sepher is like a mixture of the Beast from Beauty and the Beast, and the saber tooth tiger from Ice Age.
Why yes I did just read this book in a day. I loved Zita's story right from the opening pages. I loved her unapologetic fierceness and prickly edges. I read A LOT of feisty female MCs in fantasy romance, and Zita felt very fresh to me because of her career and skillset. The development of her relationship with Sepher felt very authentic and natural to me. I loved the world and am so excited to read more Clare Sager books. The plot had several twists I did not see coming, keeping me engaged throughout.
The Mortal Enemies to Monster Lovers series has been so fantastic so far. I cannot wait to read more of these books.
