A fabulous graphic novel for kids illustrating the importance of ocean conservation and coral reef damage while still being a mystical and fun read. I love O'Neill's art style, and her aquacorns are just as adorable as her tea dragons. :) There's also moments where the MC is processing through her grief for her mom, and those added to the overall heart-tugging nature of the book. Overall, a pretty solid pick that I'd recommend to kiddos and adult-ocean-lovers alike!

This sweet, saltwatery seaside fantasy for middle grades is yet another reason I love K O’Neill. Their gentle, emotionally validating, and powerfully messaged graphic novels are what this world needs. Aquicorn Cove is very much about environmental responsibility, community action, grief, and mutual care. I think in structure it’s probably their weakest but the uniqueness, beauty, representation all make this a more than worthwhile read.

** A copy of Aquicorn Cove was provided by the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review **

Katie O'Neill has quickly become one of my favourite artists. Her panels are gorgeous and Aquicorn Cove does not disappoint. It has so many things to love: mythical creatures, love, family and environmentalism. What I loved most was getting to know Lana and how O'Neill dealt with her grief and loss.

Overall, it's a fun yet thought provoking book that kids will enjoy. Along with Tea Dragon Society, this is another book of O'Neill's that I will recommend to my little cousins.

This story was pretty good! It felt slow in the beginning but it picked up in the middle! I can see the author's heart in the story, but it was sort of a boring story. I liked how the artist was addressing serious real world issues like the destruction of coral reefs because of humans and the weight of grief over a parent's death being a struggle for the left behind child. The coral reef issue was prominent, but the grief theme could have had a stronger arc. I wanted way more from this story, is what it comes down to. The art is beautiful, as usual. I wish I could mix and blend colors like she does!!
Overall, I recommend because of the art and simple story for young readers.
