The main character visits her hometown after a storm. She and her dad moved away after her mom died. Her aunt is dealing with wreckage. Through caring for an injured aquicorn, the characters learn more about the growing harm that has come to the cove and life there for the underwater and on land community.

There is a cute implied romance between the elegant underwater liason and burly Aunt Mae.

I loved the artwork and the story made me quite emotional, especially the grief of the lost mother. I'd recommend this book to those who like O'Neill's art and those with young readers.

I love K. O'Neill's art style and Aquicorn Cove's story has a great message about preserving our coral reefs.
