It was alright. I didn’t particularly like the romance, and I thought some of the plot twists were a bit- rushed maybe? Other than that, I enjoyed the book. I also noticed that there has been some character development and Celaena doesn’t seem quite as narcissistic.

I definitely preferred this book in comparison to the first book. Some of the twists were guessable
like Celaena being Fae and that the King has some ultimate world-shattering power stone
but some of them did catch me off guard
like Archer actually being responsible for Nehemia’s death, and that ultimately Nehemia likely had a way to possess Archer to kill her

The angst between the characters was, at times, eye-roll worthy (looking at you specifically, Dorian); but I did find the scene where
Celaena gave Chaol a birthday surprise dinner on the rooftop,
to be very sweet and romantic.

I probably wouldn’t read this book specifically again, but I am still intrigued by the series, so I will keep reading along.

Biggest beef is the common thread that Celaena can't/doesn't tell Chaol that if she steps out of line or does not return the king will kill him. Especially
at the end when she 'doesn't have time' to tell him, but has time to tell Chaol about all of the word keys and words of power?

Oh this series is getting good. All the twists and turns of this one were amazing. The characters are being flushed out so well. I’m really excited to see where the world building and magic system goes.

Such a great sequel. Continued to have me gripped throughout. I love the set up for the next book and love how the romance wasn’t overbearing again!

What it’s about:
In this sequel to Throne of Glass, the story follows the same characters from the previous story as they pick up right where they left off at the end of book one. Relationships are tested, and new secrets are revealed.

What I thought:
I really enjoyed this book, and it made me excited to continue on with the series. There were definitely some things that surprised me. I liked the romance aspects in this one, and I’m excited to learn more about what is actually going on.

🎧 Audiobook Thoughts: I really liked this narrator and thought she did the different voices well.

⚠️ lots of gore, injuries, blood, death, & violence

🌶️ fade to black
