The actually writing was not bad, I just found the general concept of the world confusing and not sending a good message about what love is. It especially puts an emphasis on the importance of romantic love over everything else which I ironically didn’t love.

Not especially unique, but not a bad book. I really liked the epigraphs for each chapter, it was a cool way to get in extra world building. Mostly a standard YA dystopian, but there were some passages near the end that were pretty striking. Kind of weird that she falls in love with essentially the first boy she ever meets.

I really do hope that Alex doesn't die. So she's off in the wilds on her own and he's probably going to end up in ward 6 of the crypts if they decide not to execute him. Oh the things people do for love though. Not very surprised by the storyline as it may be for ya'll American/other peeps. Coz this kinda restriction is still there in many parts of my country.

Finally got around to reading some of the older YA books I always wanted to read. Definitely not the most masterful work but the plot is interesting and I'm intrigued enough to keep going! Not to mention the 2016 covers I have are so pretty. Definitely lots of cliches and maybe some of the wording doesn't hold up so well today but had a fun time anyway c:

La primera mitad del libro no me gustó mucho, todas las palabras eran lamentaciones, lo cual va perfecto con la temática del libro, pero idk. La segunda mitad fue genial, los personajes se desarrollaron mucho mejor.

"He can't be happy unless you're unhappy sometimes"

The first time I picked this book up in 2018 it was on a whim, I had no idea what I was getting into and by the end of it I had found one of my favorite books of all time. 3 years later I decided I wanted to finish the series that captivated me so much so I re-read the first one just to get back into the story.

In Delirium we follow an alternate United States, where love has been declared a dangerous disease, and the government forces everyone who reaches eighteen to have a procedure called the Cure.

The idea behind this book, love being a disease, is fascinating, I was hooked by the story right away and I adore what the author managed to do with the idea. The writing style is simple yet beautiful, it allows you to be right there along the characters throughout the story. Although this book is quite long for a YA story each word serves a purpose and I flew through the story.

The characters are amazingly written, you get to know each and every one deeply and even though the main character was not my favorite I believe Lena is a great character that feels real to me. Alex and Hana are by far my favorites, I wanted to know more about them and I think they make this story amazing. The way the author grabs your attention from page one and manages to throw you curve balls along is what I look for and love in books.

Overall I am so happy I re-read this book, this book was just what I needed for my reading slump and I can’t wait to finally finish the trilogy and hope that I lives up to amazing first book.

"I love you. Remember. They cannot take it"

Sadly, as history has proven, it doesn't take an operation to make us brainwashed tools of the state spying on each other for any departure from state-sanctioned orthodoxy. But the tension is heightened by the idea and Oliver gets a lot of mileage out of it. I found her heroine very sympathetic and believable, which can sometimes be a stumbling block with YA. 1984, told from a teenage Julia's pov.

It isn't that this is a bad book, just not one of my favorites. Certainly not one I want to rush out and tell all my friends about.
