To be completely honest, this book wasn't my favorite. I feel like it barely scraps by with a three star rating (2.75 stars in reality), and I found that there were almost equal amounts that I liked about this book as I disliked about this book. The beginning of this book was definitely not for me, and this is one of the few books that I actually considered giving up on, but alas, I am far too stubborn to DNF a book. It does get better as the book goes on which is why I didn't choose to give it a one or two star rating but I feel like this book wasn't for me and that's okay because I do think there are others that will really love this book. This book gets to the smut right away, I'm talking within the first few chapters and it last a few chapters as well and personally I prefer there to be more build up before you get right to the smut especially if one of the main characters is supposed to be a virgin catholic priest. I feel like I struggled a bit with Joe's character and maybe being a former Catholic, it just didn't make sense to be that Joe would be a Catholic priest considering his choices and actions or maybe I just thought he would struggle a bit more with his choices. I don't know, it just felt a bit weird to me. I didn't like that Percy constantly lied to Joe, and while he came clean on some things, there were still a lot of secrets that Percy kept from Joe. Smoking is really heavily featured in this book, and I learned that it makes me incredibly uncomfortable to read about it when it occurs so much. I didn't realize it bothered me so much, but it turns out it does. Percy also has complicated feelings towards his brother, which may or may not be his biological brother, which is a bit weird. There are other things I didn't like as well, but these probably stand out the most. Now I did enjoy the humor, and I love reading about monster and supernatural creatures, so those aspects of the book I enjoyed, but overall, this one just wasn't for me. There wasn't enough about this book that I liked that would make me want to read the next book. I do think that maybe I wasn't the right audience for this book, but I do think that there are going to be people that really like this book. Unfortunately, I'm not one of them.

This book had no business being as funny as it was. It was just unhinged, murder husbands for 400 pages and I ate that up. Docked some points for the miscommunication though because Percy keeps freaking LYING and that annoys the heck out of me (and I just loathe the miscommunication trope in general so that took some of the fun out of it). Joe, however, is precious and I will protect him forever.
If I'm being objective, I don't think their relationship makes sense because of all theLYING . Like I don't believe you could tell someone you love them and still do all that but I'd like to hope it gets rectified in the next book. Somehow. I also feel like Joe deserves a better explanation and some kind of closure, especially regarding Anna and Eve . That just did not happen, at all, which was a bit unsatisfying. But did I have fun with them? Yes.
Honestly, I feel like the entirety of this book requires some suspension of disbelief because these two are like almost comical in their moral greyness but I loved it. They were unapologetically unhinged and I think we need more characters who are just this level of crazy. The entire book basically read like an action movie but not those serious ones like Bourne Identity more like Rush Hour and Get Smart (which are two of my favourite shows so 🤷🏻‍♀️). I had a blast.

Not for me. If you’re OK with a porn-what-plot plot beginning you might like it, but sex before introducing the characters properly so I don’t care about either of them just feels ick to me, and a virgin priest who apparently has no issues breaking his vow to god I find implausible and insensitive.

Wacky and fun but the middle lagged a bit.
Wanted to love it, but only liked it.

Currently, 4 stars, due to all the history that's just kind of randomly dumped on you throughout the beginning. It almost gave me whiplash when a character would just casually mention something that happened together before.
Then, I found out there was a trilogy before this, so I'll re review after I read how these characters met.
