Mariana Zapata just knows how to do slow burn and sunshine x grump too well! Can’t believe I put off reading this for years! Gosh, was I missing out. It’s alright though because it found me just in time ❤️ #bigfan #iloveyoumarianazapata

Started this afternoon, it’s now 11:15pm & I just finished it!

It did not feel like I read 559 pages! I was sucked into this book the minute I started it.

I absolutely LOVED this book so much.

I feel a Mariana Zapata obsession happening.

I'm not sure if "slow burn" is the right word to describe how Rhodes and Aurora interacted, because there was simply no burn for half of the novel. That being said, I like the concept of a longer novel and how it gave more room for the characters to develop (even if the amount of development that happened was relatively pitiful).

---

I enjoy the grump/sunshine trope on a few levels, and this book felt just Off enough to make me consider what about the trope I actually like. I think I like the idea that one character's positivity is so overwhelming, that they are simply irresistible to the other, and I think the broad concept of "irresistibility" is at the center of a lot of tropes I like because (pardon the pessimism) I've met so few people that caused me to always want to be around them. I Want there to be someone in my life that I just can't resist thinking about. This book bothers me because I didn't feel like any of this applies to the main characters. Rhodes thinks that Aurora is cute and silly and somehow that turns into love?

I understand I’m being a bit of a hater but
1. Nicknames were awful!! Buddy and Angel Face!! Jail.
2. Why can’t this adult woman complete a hike??
3. We didn’t actually get a lot of time with the fmc and mmc interacting, love story fell short
4. Fmc kept claiming to “truly not even care” about stuff in her past and was literally the most annoying person
5. Audio narrator kept using a Jennifer Coolidge voice for side characters??
