I really enjoyed this book. It’s a beautiful story about finding love a self worth.
Gave up a few chapters in reading but finished the audiobook. Why and how? I do not know. It was 17 hours, wayyy too long. No steam until 82% in, and not in like a slow burn way. It felt pretty platonic between them, and the MMC seemed to just be tolerating her. I really did not like the FMC. She was supposed to be a divorcée in her 30s but acted like a ditzy 20 year old with zero life experience.
This felt like the first draft of a first novel. The bones of a good story are there but you could randomly delete 50% of the book and probably still understand what’s going on.

When I started this book, the task of reading a 600 page romance book was a bit daunting after reading romantasy books of the same length. But I had heard such great things about Mariana Zapata that I wanted to give it a try. And I’m so glad I did. I want to read all her other books now.
Let’s get to the actual book. Ora and Rhodes are two absolute gems. And I def got teary when he “came back for her” after learning about Kaden. But I think I also just learned to appreciate the way Mariana made the slow burn of this book work. I got all the details, all the background, all the plot and also all the deliciousness of them actually being together.
Can’t wait to read another.

Slowest slow burn but it was so cute and worth it. I love a good grown up romance!

Thank you to NetGalley for giving me an ARC for this re-release in exchange for an honest review. There were great elements of the story like Amos and Ora’s relationship, and getting to know Ora’s backstory about her mom. I wish I got more of an understanding of Rhodes as a character (or maybe just his personality) and that there was more of a romance between him and Ora. I felt like this was more of a contemporary novel than a romance. I also wish there was more from side characters on page.
