This book was so fun, I think there were things in the end that I didn’t exactly love as it felt a bit too Hollywood ending for me. But I will say the main character was so fun and also men are trash.

Silent Patient mixed with The Maidens  mixed with The Punisher a bit.... if those characters were written by women, for women.

This book caught me by surprise! I picked it up on a whim solely based on the title and jacket description, and it took me on a ride I couldn't get off once I read the first page. The two narrators of the book, Scarlett and Carly, intersect in ways I could't have imagined, making me audibly gasp when it is revealed. This is the best and biggest twist, but there are more that left me on the edge of my seat, waiting for all the pieces to come together.
The ending was far happier than I expected, but I actually enjoyed it and wished to spend more time with the remaining characters.

Fargo is a new author to me, and I can't wait to read more of her work!

The first half felt a bit slow, but then a switch flipped and I sped through the rest. Everything after that point was predictable, but in the best way. Knowing where the story was going didn't undermine the tension at all, but increased the need to know how it got there. Absolutely stellar, need more.

THEY NEVER LEARN is a sapphic serial killer thriller about women getting control and taking revenge.

The narrators alternate between an English professor getting ready for her yearly kill and a freshman who plans revenge after her friend is assaulted. Carly and Scarlett feel distinct at the start of the book and their chapters are very easy to tell apart. Early on I liked Carly better but by the end I was rooting for Scarlett and I'm very happy with how things turned out. If you liked (or wanted to like) DEXTER but wished it were sapphic, check this out.

There's enough detail to make it very clear what the various perpetrators/murder victims did that got them on Scarlett's radar or drew Carly's ire, but without glorifying sexual violence or giving graphic details of abuse. Refer to the CWs for more information.
