This book looks awesome and the synopsis really had me wondering about how this story was going to go. It was definitely not what I was expected and the format that the author went with was interesting and something I had not seen in other books.

However, it definitely dragged in the middle and I almost put it down. While the information is necessary and it made sense to be there, there was a sense of helplessness that made it feel a lot longer than it actually is.

The ending made it somewhat worth it which is why I rated it 3 stars.

I have to say that having Catherine's POV being her writing her story for the beamer to read was magnificent. As I said before, it was way too long and by the time I read that Gus was trying to marry her with the help of the medium, the sorcerer and the aunt, I was done with those flashbacks.

I had hoped a happy ending for Catherine and Anura but of course there was not. It also sucked that Anura was kicked out of the city especially after what Catherine tried to do for her.

Gus' ending was what he deserved and even though I was sad about the beamer "dying" as well, I think after how nonchalant he was about trying to kill Geneva, I think the world was better off without him.

Finally, Margo's love for Gus is understandable after knowing that she lost a child but she really just turned him into a horrible man and I am kind of glad she suffered as well. It's really not fair that only other people have to deal with him while she only gets to see the "nice" side of him.

Brilliant. The way the parts of the world and story are woven together is so masterful, piecing together how things happened felt like a treat. The prose is absolutely fantastic. It’s so unique but the ways of describing things just Make Sense and the word choice is delicious. On top of all that it was emotionally fulfilling and thought provoking. AND with weird lit elements AND queer themes. Love love love.

The past Catherine POV was unnecessary. Other than that I really enjoyed reading this.

I didn't like how the narrator continues to talk directly to the reader
